I Want a Vacation!
- by Kecia
I was about to write a few articles before bed, but the site I was submitting to is down for maintenance, so I’ll just blog instead! Today has been a fairly productive day for me. I didn’t do much upfront pay work, but I did get some work done on personal projects. This afternoon, James and I also went for a swim at my nanny’s pool. I haven’t been in a few days, and the water was refreshing.
It also hit me today how much I want to go on a vacation before school starts in August. James and I haven’t planned one this year because we were going to work on paying off bills and such, but I really want to get away for at least a few days before my life gets very hectic. We are going to Charlotte, NC for a concert at the end of July, and I’m going to try to convince James to stay more than one night. I know there are plenty of things to occupy us in Charlotte, but it would be nice just to relax by a hotel pool or in an in-room jacuzzi.
It may be a mini-vaca, but it beats staying at home!
Summer Cleaning
- by Kecia
I think I figured out why I haven’t been blogging much. With school out of the summer and my days being consuming by working, eating, sleeping, and swimming every now and then, I don’t have anything at all going on! No upcoming vacations to prepare for, my birthday has passed…I’m pretty much in a boring rut until August. However, I cannot complain, as I’m having a nice summer break earning money, sitting at the house, and relaxing by my nanny’s pool.
When school starts again, I’m sure I’ll have plenty to blog about…at that point, it will be about trying to find the time. I will be going back to a full time class load…something I haven’t done since 2004. 5 classes plus homework and writing on the weekends is going to be pretty time consuming. I’m sure I’ll be able to squeeze in at least one post a week though.
This weekend has been a rather lazy one until about 3 hours ago. Yesterday was spent lounging around the house until my mom and sister called at about 4pm and invited us to dinner. We went up there and had spaghetti and salad with them, then played Phase 10. That game is SO addicting!
Today was kinda a lounging repeat of the first part of yesterday, though a few hours ago I got into a cleaning mood. When I get into this mode, I go from one end of the house to the other until everything is cleaned. I have been wanting to clean up and organize our closet for months, but it wasn’t a pressing issue so it’s been on the back burner. Today, however, we got in there and went through our respective sides of the closet and filled a box that will be donated to the Salvation Army. We also took everything out of the floor and vacuumed and reorganized the luggage, shoes, and other misc. items in there.
We then moved into the bathroom, and James was so kind to offer to do the tub. I will scrub the toilet before I will clean the tub. I don’t why I hate to do it so much. After I finished the rest of the bathroom, I went into the bedroom and straightened it up. This room is the first to get dirty, but usually the last to get cleaned. We organized everything in there and threw out a lot of magazines and mail that has accumulated.
Before I was finished, I also picked up, dusted, and vacuumed the living room and cleaned the kitchen down well. Luckily, the other 3 rooms in the house didn’t need to be cleaned, so those got skipped except for vacuuming the two bedrooms. With every room getting vacuumed, I think we have enough hair in the vacuum cleaner for 4 puppies…though we only have 1!
All in all, it has been a very productive day on the cleaning front. Now I’m just lounging on the couch with my laptop, which is what I plan to do for the rest of the night.
Honest Scrap Award
- by Kecia
I received an award from Caity the other day…it’s time to fulfill the request.

“The HonestScrap award comes with a caveat or two. Firstly, you have to tell your readers ten things about you they may not know, but that are true. Secondly, you have to tag 10 people with the award.”
Ten Things You Might Not Know About Me:
1. My biggest pet peeve is bad drivers. It totally irks me to have someone pull out in front of me, not use blinkers, or cut me off.
2. When I was little (age 3-4), I told everyone I was going to be a boy when I grew up. Growing up with several male cousins who told you you were a sissy if you played with dolls or anything girly can do that to you.
3. I have a habit of talking faster than I can think…This leads to new words, usually due to the fact that I want to say one word, then change to another at the last minute, so the two combine and sound crazy.
4. I once attended Berry College, one of the most prestigious colleges for Education. I ended up coming back home after 2 years.
5. My current guilty pleasure is listening to Miley Cyrus. I can’t stand Hannah Montana, but the girl has some good songs!
6. My worst habit is biting my nails.
7. I procrastinate like there’s no tomorrow.
8. I love Mac & Cheese.
9. I love to read, but the interest comes in spurts. Sometimes I will read 10 or more books in a month, and other times, I will go 6 months without picking up a book.
10. I’ve been out of the country twice…Visited Italy and Mexico.
I tag the following people with this award:
- Aidan
- Amanda
- Christie
- Damita
- Danielle
- Fee
- Kate
- Kimm
- Jeanine
- Terri
