Saturday Shots 01
- by Kecia
Since I haven’t posted any photos on my blog in a while, and I really want to update my blog right now (also known as, procrastinating from doing my homework
), I’d thought I’d share some recent shots with you on this fine Saturday. I hope to share photos every weekend, and I’m going to call this “Saturday Shots.” Hopefully, it will be photos from the week before, but I may share some random ones if I don’t have any good ones from that week.
Now, onto the photos:
The first two photos were taken the day we moved my sister into her college dorm room on August 18th. She’s attending Berry College, which has the most beautiful campus in the state of Georgia (and possibly in the country). They have a section away from the campus that they refer to as “Mountain Campus” which has a beautiful chapel (that I should have taken photos of), a small lake, dorms, and an elementary school.
This is the most recent shot of Charmin puppy, taken earlier this month:

And finally, James and I, standing on our back deck last weekend:

I’m a Future Educator
- by Kecia
Tonight was the first Future Educators Club meeting of the semester. I really like this club so far, and I hope to be actively involved in it throughout the next two years. I am even contemplating nominating myself for a Junior Officer position…I have until November to think about though, as I will have to see how much time it would take up.
Tonight’s meeting was a meet & greet (being the first one) of sorts. We got to meet the current officers of the club, and they discussed some of the events planned for the semester. After the business was handled, popcorn and drinks were passed out for us to snack on during The Ron Clark Story, a movie about a teacher who successfully raises the test scores of the lowest 6th grade class in an inner city school in NYC (think Stand and Deliver). It was a very inspirational movie, and I plan to purchase Mr. Clark’s book titled The Essential 55.
James and I plan on getting a new battery for my Civic this weekend. The past two weeks of carpooling with James have been fun, but I am VERY ready to be able to drive myself to school again. No more getting to school an hour and a half before my first class starts, and no more staying 30 minutes after my last class waiting on my ride!
The Right Decision
- by Kecia
School was pretty good today, I am still getting used to the really long days that accompany going to school full time. I didn’t get much more homework, other than 2 chapters of reading that I must get done by next Tuesday. I still have to finish a journal entry by Thursday, which I plan to do tomorrow. I came home today after school feeling SO exhausted. I slept almost a full 8 hours last night, and didn’t wake up once during the night. I thought that would make me more energetic today, but it failed. I woke up with the back of my thighs and my left knee very sore…I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary yesterday, so I assume it’s the way I slept or something. It hurts to climb stairs, sit down, stand up, and sometimes walk. I’ve wanted to go to bed since about 7pm, but I know that’s WAY too early for me.
I really feel I made the right decision to go back to school. I was still hesitant until the first day of classes. I think I was just overwhelmed by what some seniors (then juniors) told me regarding the program last semester. Yes, it’s a lot of work, but if you put it all into perspective and do not allow yourself to get behind, it seems very manageable. I have felt a lot less overwhelmed about my 6 classes and all their assignments once I mapped them all out in my free student planner (compliments of the college…and my tuition I’m sure
). I now know exactly when everything is due, so I can plan to have assignments completed in time to work on others all before their due dates.
James is watching South Park while running on the treadmill, which means he has the TV turned up really loud. I need some ear muffs, or to cover my head with a pillow to drown out the annoying cartoon!
