In the 2nd Trimester!

I had another prenatal appointment Friday at 14 weeks, and everything went well. I met with one of the 2 doctors at the center I go to (the other three there are midwives), and he was really nice. The baby’s heartbeat was in the 160′s, which everyone is saying sounds like a boy. I’m not getting my hopes up too much, but my preference is a boy. I don’t really care either way though, I just pray for healthy! We find out April 27th, so long as the baby isn’t shy!
The doctor also mentioned doing a blood test at my next appointment to check for Down’s Syndrome. It’s not the amniocentesis that can cause miscarriage, but a simple, 1 vial drawn from my arm. The test can tell me if the baby is at high risk for developing Down’s. I don’t think I’m going to get the test done, since it can’t tell me 100% whether or not the baby has it, just if it’s in a smaller percentile for possibly having it. Plus, the prenatal care I’m receiving will not change no matter the results, so I figure that’s one less thing I’d have to worry about (because I definitely would if I found out my baby was in the high risk category).
As far as symptoms go, my nausea is almost completely gone, except if I wait too long to eat between meals. I’m trying to stay on top of that by eating every 2-3 hours, but that can be hard because I still don’t seem to have my appetite completely back yet. It’s getting hard to get a full night’s sleep, as I’m trying to get myself to only sleep on my sides. I know as I get further along, this is the only choice I’ll have, but laying in bed for 8-9 hours on just my sides starts to get uncomfortable and I end up waking up 2-3 times a night. If I am comfortable, I’m waking up to pee. Sleeping comes better during the day, though I try not to nap much in fear it keep me from getting any sleep at night.
I decided I need to get more organized with things. I downloaded Rainlendar to keep up with things I need to get done, both online and offline. I’m putting myself on a schedule to blog at least three days a week, and my calendar will be there to scream at me when I need to be posting. This will also help me with my freelance writing, though that’s running kinda slim at the moment. Hopefully I can get some new projects going soon!
