I wish sweet and salty would go hand in hand more often. There are times when I want a hint of each in the snack I am eating. Just last week, I was faced with this dilemma and couldn’t decide what to have.

Do I make two separate recipes, or can I somehow combine the two? When I told my three year old about my problem, he was immediately interested in helping, suggesting that we make something together. That kid seriously has the best ideas!

We rummaged through the cabinets, but couldn’t really find that perfect sweet and salty combination I was craving. So, the two of us hopped in the car and went to our local Walmart to browse the candy aisle. It was there that I found the new 3 Musketeers Bites.

With these, I could have my sweet tooth satisfied without all the calories of a huge candy bar. We grabbed a few more items on our shopping trip and made our way back home to prepare our dessert!

What You Need:

  • 3 Musketeers Bites
  • Tiny Twist Pretzels
  • Pecan Halves

3 Musketeers Pretzel Hugs Ingredients

To begin, we laid several pretzels out on a large plate. I like to lay them with the salty side facing down, so that the taste doesn’t get lost into the sweet side of the snack. Sawyer then topped each pretzel with a 3 Musketeers Bite (He refused to be in any photos that day…).

I placed the plate of snacks into the microwave for 7 seconds. That was enough to lightly melt the chocolate without causing a big mess. I then let Sawyer press a pecan half on top of the 3 Musketeers Bites, sandwiching the candy between the nut and pretzel.

The plates were placed into the refrigerator for about 20 minutes. This was so the chocolate could harden back up and not get all over our fingers when we ate our snack.

This recipe is incredibly simple, and only takes about 10 minutes from start to finish. We have made them three times now – they keep well and are great when we want a couple bites of something sweet and salty! I think we may try them with different toppings in the future – maybe cashews, peanuts, or M&Ms!
