Dear Sawyer – Month 19

Dear Sawyer, Another month has come and gone so quickly! Being your mommy sure makes my days fly by. I try to enjoy every moment of them I can though, because you will all grown up before I know it. You know more words that we can keep up with now. Your first two word phrase, which you are now saying on a daily basis, is "Eat dinner". You also say it when it's time for breakfast, or lunch, or snack - you are getting the hang of knowing when it's meal time though. :) You have very good manners and saying "tank too" (thank you) after someone gives you something has become automatic. We are working on "Please" now and you are getting good at saying it too. When something goes wrong, you say "Oh man" and you are becoming very affectionate. Mommy and Daddy gets lots of hugs and kisses from you - I cherish these days, because you'll eventually be  too much of a big boy to want to love … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 18

sawyer

Dear Sawyer, Today you turn 18 months old, and boy, have you grown and developed since the last letter I wrote. Has it really been 8 months since I last composed a blog post all for you?! Sorry that Mommy is a slacker :P Since I last wrote you, you have learned to walk run, and you love to get into EVERYTHING! On a daily basis, you pull DVD's off the shelf, empty the contents of Daddy's desk drawers, and stuff things (like Daddy's drum stick or a toy pickle) into the air vent. It's sometimes fun to watch you explore the world around you, but dealing with the aftermath can be crazy. Luckily, you are pretty good at helping with clean up...most of the time. You have about 25 words in your vocabulary now, but your all-time favorite is "No". You know how to say "Yes", but you still choose to use no when in fact, you actually do want what is asked of you. "Sawyer, do you want a … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 10

Dear Sawyer, Again, Mommy is a little late on writing your letter. That is because when you turned 10 months old, we were all busy getting ready for our trip to the beach. Then we were actually at the beach. Now that things have settled down and returned to normal, I have time to think about the last month and what I want to say to you. During this month, you decided to go from your army crawling and scooting to actually crawling on your hands and knees. I guess you decided it takes up less energy to move that way lol. Once you figured it out, you were (and still are) all over the place. You get into everything now, and we have had to move the coffee table out of the living room because you like to pull things off of it. You are also very interested in the TV and everything that goes with it, but unfortunately, we will not be removing that from the room. You keep us on our toes … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 9

Dear Sawyer, You have officially become a Daddy's Boy. Everyone says it's because you spend too much time with me during the day that you are so happy to see a new face when Daddy gets home. It's so cute to see the two of you playing together, and I know it lights up his entire day to see your smiling face and your arms reached out for him when he gets home. We've both been working on getting you to crawl, but you still are not interested. You'd rather walk holding our hands or holding onto Yoshi. You will sit on your hands and knees and rock for a few seconds, but you still flatten out onto your tummy. You've started a bit of an army crawl/scoot the past few days, so hopefully the real thing is coming soon! Also, we can almost see your front two bottom teeth. Your front gums have gotten hard, and there are two little specks of white on top in the center. We figure you'll have … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Months 7 & 8

Dear Sawyer, Wow, Mommy is really slacking at writing letters to you. I blame the fact that I'd rather play/cuddle/etc with you than update my blog. As of your 6 month appt, you weigh 18 pounds, 7 ounces and are 27 1/2 inches long. That was March 28, so we are guessing you are at least 20 pounds by now. You have your 9 month check up at the end of June, and Daddy and I are always so excited to see how much you have grown...even if it makes me a little sad to see you getting so big! We started feeding you protein (eggs and meats) last week, and you love everything. So far, the only thing you spit out in green peas. You only get a bottle at bedtime, because you have fully mastered the sippy cup. One day a couple weeks ago, you decided to start tilting the cup up to drink, and you were already holding it well. Hopefully you will be off the bottle before your first birthday. … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 6

Dear Sawyer, You are really amazing us with how fast you are growing (mentally and physically). We have been weighing you on our scales, and think you are about 19 pounds now. Not much longer and you will need a new car seat! Your six month check up is Monday, March 28, and then we will know for sure. You had another appointment for your eye on February 28, and the doctor said it is still looking okay. Hopefully the eyelid continues to get stronger and stay out of the way of your pupil so you don't have to have surgery. You are eating so many different foods now. You really like sweet potatoes, apples, bananas, carrots, and green beans. You spit squash out the first time we tried it, so we haven't let you have it again yet. And you definitely did not like green peas. You like to pick up and hold the sippy cup by its handles, but you haven't exactly figured out how to tilt it up to … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 5

Dear Sawyer, You have grown up so much in the past month! Daddy weighed you using our scales, and we think you weigh about 16 1/2 pounds now. Finding clothes that fit you is a bit difficult right now. Different brands fit you so differently. You can still wear 3 months in some, but 6-9 months are a little snug in others. Your length also makes it hard to dress you. If we find something to fit you in the waist, it's more than likely too short. Summer's coming up though, and I cannot wait to buy more shorts for you. Even if it's hard to find the right sizes, you are so easy to buy for. :) We started you on rice cereal on January 26th, and you are doing good at eating. Some days are better than others, but overall, you are loving to eat with us at the table. Your favorite food is sweet potatoes, and we found that you do not care for squash. Carrots seem to be yummy too. I can't wait … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 4

Dear Sawyer, So you are four months old today. During the last month, we have celebrated Christmas. We took lots of videos of you, at least a few minutes at each family dinner and then again on Christmas morning. Santa brought you lots of things, but I believe your favorite toy is your Sophie. You love to chew on her hoof. You'd really like to get her entire face in your mouth, and sometimes get mad when you can't. There are still no teeth coming though, but you drool enough for there to be. You also chew on everything in sight, so we are thinking it won't be much longer! We have started practicing using a spoon with you, but you don't seem very interested. We are using formula for now, and you still let it ALL run back out of your mouth. It's cute to watch though :) You are sitting up on your own just a little, and it takes you a few seconds before you start leaned over to one … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 3

Dear Sawyer, With the holidays, we are all so busy that I am shocked Mommy has remembered to write you a letter on time. You turned 3 months old today. I was looking at your birth pictures on Facebook last night, and it amazes me how big you have gotten in such a short period of time. You are starting to like tummy time a little better, but refuse to roll from front to back or back to front...no matter what we do. Daddy has a good night routine going on with you, and I haven't put you to bed in about a month. I know I should be doing it too, but I see it as your bonding time with your Daddy. You are still such a morning baby, and smile at me every morning when I come into your room to get you out of your crib. Speaking of your crib, you are loving it and we haven't used your bassinet in over a month. We should probably get rid of it to make room for all the toys you will be getting … [Read more...]

Dear Sawyer – Month 2

Dear Sawyer, Wow, Mommy is a little behind, but it's okay because it will be a while before you read these letters anyways. You had your 2 month check up yesterday. You now weight 11lbs, 5 oz, and are 23 1/2 inches long. You also had to have your first round of vaccinations. It broke my heart to watch the nurse jab those three needles into your poor little thighs. You did very good though...you only cried for about 45 seconds after the shots were finished. Later in the day, you had a slight fever, but was not very grumpy. You are growing up so fast...Just like in the last letter, I cannot believe how the time in flying. You are taking 5 ounces of formula now, every 4 hours. I am not sure where you are putting it all, because you are still a bit scrawny to us. But you are very long, so I guess that makes up for it. Buying clothes to fit you is hard right now since you are so long … [Read more...]
