It’s not surprise that we are a lover of brownies around here. We are also chocolate fans, which makes brownies so yummy! My sister makes them for us a lot, but sometimes I toss my baking hand in as well. Because we have a couple diabetic family members and we like to use healthy alternatives when possible, I opted to use Equal Sucralose over regular sugar in my recipe.

Equal Sucralose Canister

Equal Sucralose has zero calories and is easier to store than other offerings in the grocery store, such as Splenda. The yellow canister will not get damaged and is smaller, taking up less cabinet space. It is also $0.50 cheaper than Splenda, for the same size container. In order to bake these brownies, James and I picked up the Equal Sucralose and other ingredients at the Walmart Store #658 in Rome, GA. You can check out this page to see if a Walmart near you carries Equal Sucralose!

Though I have made brownies in the past, I have never made them from scratch…so I went digging online before we left for Walmart. I found some yummy looking ones here, and decided to model the recipe to make some that my family would enjoy. I substituted the two cups of sugar with the Equal Sucralose, and it was easy to use. It’s so light and fluffy that I think it was a little easier to mix in with the other ingredients than the regular sugar.

Ingredients for Brownies

Here’s my recipe:

3/4 cup cocoa
2/3 cup butter, melted and divided into 2 1/3′s
2 cups Equal Sucralose
1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup boiling water
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9×13 baking pan.
Mix the cocoa and baking soda, then add in 1/3 cup of butter.
Add the boiling water and stir thoroughly.
Add in the eggs, Equal Sucralose, and second 1/3 cup of butter, mixing well.
Mix in vanilla extract, flour, and salt. Stir until completely blended. Add in the chocolate chips.
Pour the brownie mixture into the pan. Bake on 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes.
Allow to cool before cutting. Makes about 36 brownies.
