Nursery rhymes are something that I really want to expose to my child. They were part of my childhood, so I want them to be a part of his too. We already say some of them with him, but there are so many, I know we are forgetting several of them. So, when I received the Classic Nursery Rhymes DVD to review, I was excited to pop it in the DVD player.
My son isn’t really big on television – especially if something is on that is not one of his favorite shows. However, when I started this DVD, he was almost immediately interested. He laid down on his Mickey Mouse sofa, tossed one of our sofa’s throw pillows over him and cuddled up to watch the movie.
The DVD features 70 nursery rhymes – including some that I didn’t even know!
Some of the nursery rhymes featured include:
- Baa Baa Black Sheep
- Girls And Boys Come out To Play
- Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush
- Hey Diddle Diddle
- Hickory Dickory Dock
- Humpty Dumpty
- Hush-A-Bye Baby
- I Had A Little Nut Tree
- Jack And Jill
- Little Bo Peep
- Little Miss Muffet
- London Bridge
The film was made in 1982 and is now making it’s way to DVD. It features very simple animation, nothing like we have in newer TV shows and cartoons today. Still, my son liked it so I cannot complain. It’s not as upbeat and motivating as newer shows either, so it’s perfect to watch when you want to promote relaxation, such as before nap or bedtime.
The movie runs 60 minutes and is recommended for children of all ages.

I Love nursery rhymes too! I read them to my daughter when she was little and I’d love to have something like this for my neices to watch. I know the 4 yr old would love it. Thanks for the awesome review!

– My favorite growing up was always Humpty Dumpty
This definitely sounds like something my youngest son would love. He’s just at the age where he likes to try to sing along!
