Dear Sawyer,

Let’s see – you are doing so many new things now (some on a daily basis) that I really need to keep a post it note so I can include them all in these monthly letters. Speaking of keeping notes, I should probably update your baby book at some point! I think I’m up to your first birthday…which was just 9 months ago. I will get to it soon, promise!

You had your first haircut this month, on June 2 to be exact. You weren’t too sure what was going on at first, but when the barber gave you a sucker, you were content – so long as he was using scissors. You didn’t care too much for the clippers. I cannot believe I let him cut off all your adorable curls! Your hair was down in your eyes in the front though so it was time.

After your haircut, we left for my first blogging conference, which meant a 5 hour road trip to NC. I wasn’t feeling well at all, but for the first three hours, you slept great in the car. When you finally woke up, we stopped for a late lunch. Within 30 minutes of being back in the car, you proceeded to get sick. We found out firsthand how easy your carseat is to clean up! Luckily, that incident was a one-time thing and you were fine for the rest of the trip.

There was an indoor waterpark at our hotel but you didn’t care much for it. There was very little you could do, and you seem to prefer just swimming in a plain ol’ swimming pool right now. Maybe we will go back when you are older to see how you like it then.

You are still talking up a storm, and you learn new words every day. It’s crazy when you pick up words that we haven’t said directly to you – but you have heard us say in passing. You’ve learned how to tell us “no” to whatever it is you do not want or do not want to do. “No nap” and “No night night” are two popular phrases for you right now. You finally got a new tooth last week, bringing your total to eleven.

Next month will bring more swimming and summer fun, including a possible trip to the beach with Nana and Grandpa. Not sure how I feel about letting you go with them to FL for a week yet, but we’ll see!

Love,

Mommy
