With going to college comes the need for lots of different supplies. Not only do you need regular school supplies for your classes, but you also need new items for your dorm room, should you be moving away for college. My brother just did this earlier this month, and thankfully, Dorm Co. sent us a couple of items for him to review in his new room.
Taking a look at Dorm Co.’s website, you will quickly see that they have everything a college student needs for his/her dorm room. I could have easily chosen 10 things that my brother could use now that he’s four hours away at school. However, I settled on two things that he was really interested in having.
The first item we reviewed was the Goosy Desk Lamp. There were a few different color options, but he settled on the basic black. The lamp is small enough to fit on his desk and not take up too much room, but yet it provides enough light to help him study in the evenings. It requires a 13-watt light bulb (not included). The lamp is easy to turn on and the adjustable neck allows him to shine the light exactly where he needs it while reading.
We also reviewed the Combo Dry Erase/Cork Board. My brother decided to hang this right beside his door so that he can make notes on it as soon as he enters his dorm room. Then, it will be the last thing he sees as he leaves each morning, in case he was forgetting to grab something or needs to remember a certain event or club meeting going on later that day. The lower portion is great for pinning important papers you need to keep or see later. He currently has his class schedule pinned to the cork board area.
This is the note my sister left him after we hung it up the day he moved in. Since then, he told me he has written times for special events as well as contact info for his campus’ tech and maintenance staff on the dry erase area. The board has a convenient clip at the top to store the dry erase marker when not in use.

I have to say, I’m really quite jealous of college students who get to use this website for one-stop shopping. Even 12 years ago, when I went to college, it was a real pain to get everything I need for college. I would have LOVED this site!
Love the combo board. Anything that can serve 2 purposes and save on space like that and still be useful is great!
My son is leaving for college Aug. 30…which I’m very sad about…but he could really use a lamp for his dorm room. I’m not too sure about the wipe-off board….I think guys may write some raunchy stuff. Girls would love those on their doors. (I remember having it and it was ice when a friend would stop by and leave me a note if I wasn’t there)

Easy storage for the marker is particularly useful. What’s the point of having a board if you don’t have anything to write on it with?
