One of my favorite films from childhood is coming out on Blu-ray this week: E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial! It also celebrates its 30 year anniversary this year. I vividly remember watching this movie as a child and thinking how amazing it would be to meet an alien like E.T.!

Watching the film again this week with my husband and son, I felt that I was reliving a part of my youth. Steven Spielberg definitely created a masterpiece with this one. Even though it was made 30 years ago, it’s still a timeless classic that I am happy to add to our DVD/Blu-ray collection.

I cannot wait until my son is a little older and can understand the story line – I hope it becomes one of his favorites too!

There are so many things that remind me of this movie, seeing a bag of Reese’s Pieces, for one. Speaking of food, be sure to check out the E.T. Recipes and Activity Sheets I shared last week.

Now, a few of my favorite scenes from the movie…

The moment when Gertie meets E.T. for the first time – priceless! It’s awesome that she ends up loving him just as much as Elliot.

E.T.’s glowing finger mesmerizes Elliot, and then heals a cut on the boy’s finger.

Elliot, Michael and friends race to save E.T. and return him to his space ship before the government can get their hands on him. I love it!

*I received an advanced copy of the film to facilitate this review. All opinions are mine.

Is E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial a favorite of yours? What is your favorite scene?

Comments

  1. E.T. is such a classic! I know I must have watched this multiple times when I was a kid… but for some reason I can only remember bits of it – I better watch it again soon!

30 years? Has it really been 30 years? Woah!

I’m dying to get this and share it with our kids. I LOVED this movie when I was small. I even had the E.T. metal lunch box. E.T., Annie, and Gremlins were my very favorite movies as a kid.

  3. Becky says:

My favorite scene is the one when E.T. is hiding with all the other stuffed animals and the Mom doesn’t notice him!
