Being an Earth’s Best Blogger, I have talked extensively about their food pouches for babies and toddlers. We go through a lot of them in our house. Sawyer still doesn’t care much for fresh fruits and veggies, but he will eat several of these pouches a day if we would let him! Because I know that they are made with quality ingredients, I don’t mind giving them to him for snacks or the occasional breakfast (usually with dry cereal or toast).
There was a time though, that I didn’t know about these pouches and fed the kiddo from jars. What I didn’t realize was, Earth’s Best offers infant foods in eco-friendly glass jars AND convenient re-sealable pouches in 1st Foods for four months and older, 2nd Foods for six months and older and 3rd Foods for nine months and up – in fact, they are the only baby food brand to do this. Talk about options!
I’ve heard of some speculation that these pouches may soon replace baby food in jars. I am not so sure I agree with this idea. Though the pouches are convenient and make it very easy for older babies to be more independent, it’s definitely essential to learn how to eat with a spoon. How else will the baby be able to feed himself with utensils once he’s older?
I do think the pouches are a convenient option as they usually cause less of a mess and are perfect for on the go. However, there still needs to be a spoon in action the majority of the time! I’d save the spoon and jars for home and take the pouches for on the go – but I’d probably still pack a spoon with the pouch until my little one got the hang of things.
