The time has finally come – I have been accepted as a blogger in the Nutrisystem #NSNation blogging program! Today is my Day 1 and I am very excited to jump in and learn all I can about Nutrisystem and its offerings.
I received my frozen and pantry foods for the Nutrisystem Success Women’s Select Program yesterday, stocked the cabinets and freezer, and read all of the information that came with Month 1′s food. It was a lot of work (especially finding room for all this food!), but I felt ready to go when I woke up this morning! Along with the food, I received a sports bottle to help with my water intake – something I really need to work on!
The online community at Nutrisystem has an abundance of support and helpful information. I am still feeling my way around the site, but it looks like it will be a great supplement to the food and beverages that I received yesterday.
Why I am Using Nutrisytem
Here’s where it gets real. I have discussed weight loss on my blog many times, but I usually don’t share my exact personal story. To help make me more accountable, I have decided to lay it all out there! No use in hiding things that could hinder my success.
I have been overweight since I was about 13 years old. It was then that I started riding the school bus straight home rather than to my great-grandmother’s house with a few of my cousins. Being home alone gave me access to all kinds of unhealthy snacks – and I took advantage. Also, being home by myself, I had to go in and lock the door. I wasn’t to go outside until my parents got home…but by then, it was time for dinner, homework and getting ready for bed.
So my weight steadily climbed while I was in middle and high school. When I graduated in 2002, I weight about 180lbs. Since then, I have gotten even less physical activity in, had a baby, and had poor eating habits. This all contributed to even more weight gain. This morning, I now weight 243lbs…my starting point for my Nutrisystem journey.
Right now, my goal is to get my weight and BMI back into a healthy range. I am shooting for 155lbs on the scale, and a BMI of around 25. Non-scale wise, I want to be more active and able to chase my two year old around the yard. I also hope to have to replace most of the clothing in my closet for smaller clothes.
Thankfully, I have no health issues to battle as I lose weight, but I hope to further decrease my risk for heart disease, stroke, and hypertension by getting in shape.
I will be updating my blog each week with my journey and progress. The plan is to see a 1-2 pound loss each week, and I cannot wait to share my non-scale victories as well!
