Because I seek out the healthier alternatives with it comes to buying groceries for my family, I have been familiar with the Kashi brand for a few years. I often see their products in the cereal and granola bars aisles. Because of this, I was excited to try their new Chocolate Soft-Baked Squares.
Looking at the brownie on this plate, you may think: it’s a chocolate snack, no way it can be healthy! Well, I have to tell you about the hidden ingredients that Kashi has stuck inside these yummy squares. They’re made with surprising, nutritious ingredients like sweet potatoes and black
beans. Plus, they are packed with seven whole grains, fiber and protein!
When I read over the box, I immediately thought this would be a great snack for little ones like my son. He’s a still a picky toddler, and refuses to eat many veggies – and he wouldn’t even smell black beans if they were served on his plate! They are free of highly refined sugars, artificial additives, and preservatives, which is what I always look for when buying foods for the kiddo.
As far as taste, I have to say they are not as chocolate-y as a regular brownie or one packed with sugar that you can also purchase in stores. With that said, they do have a good taste, one that my husband and son both approved of. The box, once opened, was empty in a week between the two of them!
WIN IT: One lucky reader will get to try out these Soft Baked Square or other Kashi products by winning a prize pack containing a Kashi lunch tote and two vouchers for free Kashi products!
