Every now and then, it’s nice to sit down and have a nice steak for dinner. We are huge chicken fans in the this house, but I like a little change every now and then. When I recently received a couple products from New York Prime Meats, I forgot all about poultry for the night and couldn’t wait to sink my teeth into these babies!
We received a New York Strip steak and two Filet Mignons. Both were boneless, which I highly prefer over bone-in steaks. The package was well insulated and the steaks were very cold (fresh, not froze) when I opened the box. They were packaged tightly in a vacuum sealed pouch, which I am sure kept them well protected on the journey to my home.
Rather than fire up the grill, we decided to simply put the steaks into the oven and bake them. My husband seasoned the steaks with a few things that we had in the house. Looking back, we should definitely have marinated them. They didn’t take long at all to cook and we added a salad and baked potato to the meal.
I had one of the filet mignon steaks and it was really delicious. It had the right amount of tenderness for me – I don’t like tough steaks, but I do like a little chew to mine. I like my steaks well done, and even at that level, it wasn’t tough to eat. There was virtually no fat on my piece, which is another preference of mine. Even without being marinated, this steak was yummy.
The hubby had the New York Strip, and he enjoyed his as well. There was some fat on his, but it wasn’t so much that a great deal of the steak was wasted. A little trim here and there was all that was needed. Sawyer sampled both steaks, and I think he like the Filet Mignon better. He usually doesn’t eat anything but chicken, so we were surprised that he loved the meal so much!
The quality of meat we received from New York Prime Meats is superb and I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them in the future. It may seem a little higher priced than grocery stores, but that’s only because they only sell PRIME meat, which has a much better quality and flavor than most meats on the market.
