No Minivan Mom Here…Hello Kia Sorento!

My mom has driven one  van or another for the past 12 years. They are great for space and carrying lots of people. If you count my family of three as well as my parents and siblings, you need a vehicle that seats 7 if we all want to travel together. She loves her van because of the room it gives her and doesn’t plan to go to another type of vehicle any time soon.

I, on the other hand, am not a van type of mom. I never have wanted, nor will I probably ever want, to drive a minivan. I have nothing against vans…I just don’t plan to be a minivan mom! I am more in the market for an SUV. I currently drive a Honda Civic, and while it’s a good little car, it’s just that – little. We aren’t really able to take long trips in it because it doesn’t have adequate space for everyone, not even just the three of us.

Attending Reviewer’s Retreat allowed me to test drive a Kia Sorento, and I pretty much fell in love. Before, I had been looking at upgrading my Civic to the Honda CR-V, but now I’m leaning toward Kia. This ride was sweet!

There was a ton of space in this vehicle – plenty for the three of us and all of our belongings. There was even a third row seat, so we could travel comfortably with a couple extra people in there!

One of my favorite things was the UVO, the kick-butt technology system designed by Microsoft. It can be controlled by your voice, and  the screen is the rear camera display, an incredibly helpful safety feature on the Sorento. It also works with your cell phone via Bluetooth, so you can easily make a call if needed. No unsafe dialing or texting with this SUV!

Plus, look at the individual temperature control settings – no more power struggles between the driver and passenger. Both of you can have your own climates! :) This would come in handy with me and my husband!

The Kia Ride and Drive was an awesome experience – so much so that I went to the dealership the following week after we returned home from the conference. I wanted to get a better look at the Sorento and test drive it again in my own neck of the woods. Still in love!

My Civic will be paid off at the end of the year, and then we will get more serious at what our next car will be. I am tempted to go ahead and say it will be a Kia Sorento though, because the test drive was great and I really want it to become a permanent drive for me.

Disclosure: I was given a test drive of the Kia Sorento, but was under no obligation to blog about it. All opinions are 100% mine. No compensation was received.

  1. This is like my favorite car! I ended up getting a RAV4 which is fine, but this was my other choice and now I wish I had sucked up the extra $70 a month payment and leased it instead.
