Today is Day 8 of my Nutrisystem journey – meaning I have completed a full week of my new way of eating! First of all, I must mention that using Nutrisystem has been much easier than I expected before I started. I went into the change a bit worried that I would crave my old comfort foods, not like the foods I received, or struggle with getting enough water every day.

However, all of my fears were dismissed after the first few days. Most of the foods I have tried this week have been very good. A couple were mediocre, to be honest, but they were still edible so I got them down!

I do have a few favorites after this week, such as the Banana Nut Muffin for breakfast, Homestyle Cheesy Potatoes for lunch, Hearty Beef Stew for dinner, and Chocolate Sandwich Cookies for dessert (No lie, these taste just like Oreos!).

I also haven’t had much trouble with cravings. I think it’s because the foods I can eat now are so much like what I used to eat. Instead of completely transforming my diet, I am now simply substituting the old, unhealthy stuff with better choices. I did have one craving for Cheez-Its on Friday evening, but that’s because we still had some in the house. They are gone now, so I think I’ll be good!

My water intake hasn’t been an issue either. Nutrisystem supplied me with a 32-ounce water bottle for the program, which I need to drink two of each day. I fill it up before bed each night so the water is good and cold for the following day. I typically refill it after lunch, and have it gone by bedtime…well, usually by the time I exercise after dinner. I’ve been able to get 9-10 glasses (72 to 80 ounces) most days!

My Nutrisystem Results

Now, for my results for Week 1 on Nutrisystem. Last week, I mentioned that I was starting at 243 lbs. (ugh, I still hate writing that). Well, this week, the scale said…

240lbs!

That’s a 3lb loss!!

I am going to keep a running total so that I can see my weekly progress as my journey continues.

Week 1 = -3.0
Total Loss = -3.0

  6. Alanna says:

Congrats Kecia! I actually started out (nearly 3 years ago) at 240 pounds so I know how THAT feels. I lost 70 pounds by eating better (I started having wraps & salads every single day plus lots of yogurt and fruits!) and exercising at the gym. I’ve found it a little harder now that I have Alex to work out. I’m starting to exercise again to lose this last 30 pounds (so far in 12 days I’ve lost 6 pounds!) and the way I’m doing it is by 30 Day Shred. Have you done that before? I do it during his naps since it’s only 20 minutes a day. I’m also going to start taking walks with another mom that lives close to me. Her daughter is six months younger than my son so I figured it would also be a good way to get him around kids his age! Anyways, congrats girl I’m proud of you!

    • Kecia says:

Thank, and congrats on your weight loss, Alanna! I don’t have the 30 Day Shred video, but I do have Jillian Michaels’ Body Revolution DVDs. I want to start incorporating them into my workouts…but I think I may pick up 3DS as well because I keep hearing so many wonderful things about it!
