Last week, I was invited to a party with a few other blogging moms to celebrate our childhood cartoons being added to Netflix. We know we are definitely a Netflix family, and James and I enjoy watching the TV shows and movies with our son. I love the recent addition of Netflix Families, which lets users and non-users alike browse lists of family-friendly programming to keep your little ones entertained this summer.
The event I attended was so much fun, and I love how Meghan from JaMonkey set everything up. There were lots of snacks available, which were themed around some of the newest cartoons that have been added to Netflix recently. There were Smurf cupcakes, Scooby Doo snacks (my son’s favorite), and Rainbow Brite Fruit Skewers.
There was a scavenger hunt set up before the party, so that each child could pretend to be Scooby Doo. After getting his magnifying glass and hearing the clues, my kiddo was on the hunt. He was happy to find his prize: A toy Smurf!
The kids also created masks with crayons, glue, and lots of crafting supplies. They played Pin the Cutie Mark which is a cute little game themed around My Little Pony. Everyone had fun being blindfolded so they could have their turn.
During the party, the moms also discussed the benefits of having Netflix in the home for summer entertainment. One full year of a Netflix subscription is more affordable than having a family of five to the theater to see two movies. With the Just For Kids section dedicated to ages 2-12, you can easily find programming that is just right for the whole family.
Also, since most families already have 2-3 devices that can effortlessly stream Netflix, there’s no excuse not to use it as an affordable summer entertainment choice, no matter when or where!
While the kiddos played at the party, us moms also shared our favorite cartoons from our childhood, and which ones our own children are currently loving. I love that 90′s programming is coming back, as it gives me a sense of nostalgia watching it again with my son. We’ve been watching The Magic School Bus, Curious George, and The Smurfs!
