Movies Galore

 - by Kecia

This has been the week for movies! Since Saturday, I’ve watched 4 new movies, basically one each day. I already mentioned we went to see The Proposal Saturday night. Sunday night, James and I watched Role Models, which we rented from Netflix. Yesterday, a friend and I went to see Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. Then I went over to another friend’s house afterward (which was technically early this morning since I was out so late), and we watched The House Bunny. All were very good, funny movies, and I recommended them to everyone looking for some good comedies to watch. Of the four, my favorite was The Proposal.

I also updated my 101 in 1001 list today. It hasn’t really been touched since April, and I didn’t realize how many things I have completed since then. I updated my movie and books listed. I’ve now finished 9/101 things, which isn’t much, but I still have until 2011!

PS – 4 days until the beach!!! :) :) :)

End of the Semester Post

 - by Kecia

I promise I still love this blog (and all my readers!), but school has consumed my life for the past week or so. I haven’t even been able to do much work because of all the tests and other deadlines looming. So let’s see…

In Environmental Science, I ended up making a 90 on that last test (see previous post). She corrected the papers, and gave us a curve, which she does on every test. I made an 86 on the one I took Monday…which wasn’t bad for the 3 hours that I studied. I turned in my research paper and presented my powerpoint on environmental awareness today, and haven’t heard yet how I did. My final grade was supposed to be in today at 4pm, but she apparently didn’t post it. I have to be at the college tomorrow anyways for a graduate exam, so I’ll check on it then.

Education class ended well. I took my final Tuesday, and feel that I made a 100. I did receive my final grade for that class…an A as I expected. That fulfills #19 on my 101 in 1001 list. Before the final, I discussed the teaching program with my professor, and found that it was not too late to apply (although their was a deadline of March 13). This class has really made me want to pursue the teaching program in the fall….So I applied Tuesday! If all goes as planned, I will be a teacher in May 2011!!! :) I am so ready for this.

After this exam tomorrow, which is required by the college for all Associate degree graduates to take, my semester will be over. Graduation is May 8…I can’t wait to walk. It’s taken me 7 years to get a 2 year degree. I feel a little ashamed for that, but at the same time, I am SO glad I finished! At times, it seemed like I’d never get there…

Speaking of my 101 list, I really need to get on the ball with things. I actually need to update my list of movies, as James and I went to see 17 Again Tuesday night. He wanted to do something special as a little graduation celebration, so to the movies we went. It was a very good movie. Zac Efron is a little cutie, and a very talented actor. And, of course, Matthew Perry is great.

Feeling Accomplished!

As of yesterday, I have completed 2 items on my “101 in 1001.” The items were:

35. Sell the Kia
74. Finish the Twilight Saga

Someone contacted James yesterday about the Kia. It was in the area, so James told him he could run by our house and look it over, then call him back if he was still interested. The guy called him back about an hour later. James told him when he would be home, so the two (the guy and his father, who would be buying the car for him) decided to come back to drive it. Before they left last night, they handed James cash for the Kia and drove off in it! We are SO excited to give this vehicle off our hands. Want the backstory?

James got this car when he was still with his ex-girlfriend. The two of them split up a few months later, and he kept the Kia. When he decided to get a new vehicle last March, he contacted her to see if she would sign it over, as her name is on the car as well, so that he could trade it in. She refused, stating she needed a new car, so he should just let her finish paying it off. We got a ridiculously high interest rate on James’ Lancer because of this, but he’s becoming an impulse buyer and wasn’t leaving the lot without that car. So, we reluctantly agreed.

About 2 months ago, she gave it back to us when she lost her job at Wal-Mart, saying she can no longer pay for it. Luckily some extra had been paid on it so we didn’t have to make another payment until June. Selling it last night not only got the car out of our hands, but his ex out of our hair!

Onto the 2nd accomplishment, I finished Twilight. It took me about 3 times longer to finish Breaking Dawn than it did any of the other books, but I believe that was because I knew it would be the end. Yeah, she has a manuscript of another book out…and I may one day read it. To me, though, the 4 books make the saga.

The next couple of days, James and I are going to be busy redoing the bathroom. From Christmas and Valentine’s Day, he has acquired $60 to use at Lowe’s, so we went tonight and got a tool to remove the wallpaper with…and let me tell you, it is no easy feat! We are going to go back and get the scoring tool that just about every website suggests you use to effectively loosen the glue. Hopefully it will be a bit easier then. I will post photos when it’s done!
