Spring Break
- by Kecia
I’m taking this week to enjoy my Spring Break by doing absolutely nothing but sitting on my butt! Okay, so that’s not exactly true. I did land a new writing project this morning, so I’ll be busy the rest of the week knocking out some articles. Other than that, not too much going on.
Last Friday, I had another prenatal appointment. I haven’t told everyone that will listen about my pregnancy yet, but I know how much of a downer it was to go back and tell everyone that I had miscarried. Therefore, this time I had been a little more low key about it…until Friday anyway. I spoke to the doctor about my all day sickness, and she recommended Dramamine (sp?) if I were going to take medicine for it. She believes that the severeness of my nausea is probably being helped by my Progesterone supplement, so I’m only on it for another week. Other than that, everything checked out good and she sent me for an ultrasound, just to make sure everything looked okay.
The ultrasound tech was very optimistic. We got to see the baby moving around and what appeared to be stretching, and we heard a strong heartbeat of 162 beats per minute. He doesn’t think there’s anything wrong at this point, and we got lots more pictures to show off! I decided to come home Friday and let the world know about my pregnancy by posting on Facebook and MySpace. After the appointment, it’s really began sinking in that I’m going to be a mommy!!
I also got a new cell phone Friday: the Samsung Rogue. I had decided to get rid of the Blackberry because of the extra data plan that is required. We need to begin saving money for the baby, which means cutting out some unnecessary expenses. I really like the phone so far, though it’s taking some getting used to. I haven’t typed messages in T9 Word in almost a year, so I keep misspelling and typing completely different words.
Drowning in Schoolwork
- by Kecia
I thought I should blog before I get consumed into the mountain of schoolwork I have for today. Our field placement coordinator made an error on our placements so today I have nowhere to go. My middle school ESOL placement is finished, and I start my high school ESOL placement Monday. Then, on October 14th, I’ll start my Early Childhood placement. I can’t wait to be in my assigned Kindergarten class!
We are just over 1/3 of the way through the semester (started week 6 of 15 yesterday, and it has flown by), and paper and project dates are quickly approaching. On top of those, we still have exams for each class and regularly assigned homework. The month of October is going to be a VERY busy one for me, but hopefully I can get everything down (or at least begun) by November. I really want to be able to blog every day that month for NaBloPoMo, but it may prove difficult if I’m still drowning in work by then. Oh well, school comes first!
My Blackberry Curve has been given me fits lately. Last night, I signed into Yahoo! Messenger, checked that no one was online, and then laid the phone down. About 5 minutes later, I picked it up to check something, and it would not respond…I am assuming it shut itself off. I held down the power button for at least 15 seconds before it finally powered on. I was given the hourglass for about 3 or 4 minutes, then it started up like nothing had happened. The battery has also become very weak rather quickly. I must charge it daily, even if it just sat in my bookbag, on but unused for most of the day. I’ve only had the phone since June, so it seems quite early for it already be having problems. If they persist, I’ll be dropping by the Verizon store to see what they can do.
This Week in Review
- by Kecia
Yep, it’s another weekly post! Honestly, the reason this blog isn’t updated is because I have forgotten it. Not because I don’t have anything to say…just because I never think to pull up the URL, log in, and blog. Which totally sucks…cause by the time I remember, I have lots of say, which makes for a very random post! I’ll use bullet points again, as it makes it easier to follow.
- Last Friday, my great-grandfather passed away. His health has been slowly declining since last Thanksgiving, but the process had sped up within the last couple weeks. He got to where he couldn’t swallow his food or medication, and was basically unconscious for the last week or so of his life. The funeral was on Monday, and while it was very sad to say goodbye, I’m somewhat relieved that he is no longer suffering.
- We sold my iMac on Sunday. I really liked the computer, but I realized I’m too dependent on my laptop, which was causing the iMac to do nothing but collect dust in the office. James didn’t like to use it, so it was just sitting there, unused for days at a time. The downfall to having a Mac is the inability to download anything you could want. Some things are only made for Windows, which made it impossible to use for some things.
- I got a new cell phone on Monday. The guy we sold the iMac to had a brand new Blackberry Curve that he was looking to give away. James mentioned that I was going to be buying one, so the man offered to give me his. It was given to him by a friend who took Verizon up on their current Buy One Blackberry, Get One Free deal. However, the iMac buyer had no intention of activating it, as he still like the phone he’s had for almost 5 years. I really love this phone…no complaints yet!
- James and I also acquired Rock Band over the weekend. My friend, Eric, has wanting to get rid of his Rock Band 1 & 2, along with the accessories, so we took him up on the $100 deal. We like it better than Guitar Hero World Tour, and are thinking about selling all of those games we have (GH III, Aerosmith, and World Tour). It’s hard to get good at either one when you are constantly switching between the two different systems.
The rest of this week has just be me lounging around the house, attempting to get some writing work done. I was very productive yesterday, but since it’s the end of the week, I don’t have any demanding assignments. I did manage to land another client over the weekend, and hope to start writing for them next week.
