Getting Back on Track
- by Kecia
Today, I actually made myself get out of bed in time to make it to school. This sounds like an easy feat, but I just haven’t felt like going to that early class much lately (and by early class, I mean 10:50am…for a night owl, that is early!
). I’ve just been going through a bit of a rut since the miscarriage. Right after, I had no desire, drive, or initiative to go to school…or do anything else for that matter. I am now forcing myself to get over that, and attend class every day, especially if I want to graduate in May!
Anyways, back to school, we received our second test grades in Environmental Science today. I made an 84, which is higher than I was expecting. Not going to class doesn’t do much for your hopes of making a good grade! I still don’t know what I made on the first test, as I had to make it up and my professor still hasn’t graded the make ups. I was going to meet with her today to discuss whether or not I was behind in class, but after making a decent test grade and the other grade still unknown, I told her I’d wait until she had all my grades before talking with her.
James went to the local library on Saturday, and came home with a Photoshop book for me. I have CS4 installed on my laptop, and have been wanting to learn how to use it. The book from the library seems to have small projects in it that you can complete to gain more experience with PS. I have read through some tutorials online, and even through the “CS4 for Dummies” book, but I still feel SO lost! To me, it seems like a complex program that I will never be able to learn by myself. Reading through tutorials doesn’t help me with complex stuff…I need hands on learning, but with guidance. I wish I could attend a class around here for it, but I doubt classes for that exist around here.
Question: For those of you who use Photoshop, how did you learn? Were you self taught through tutorials, or did you actually take a course on it?
