I Don’t Need Help
- by Kecia
I have to share something that I found funny when I logged into this site to blog just a moment ago. I noticed I had 9 spam posts in the queue, so I went to check them out before deleting them. The first one was a reply to this post about how I had joined EcstasyMB and was becoming addicted to it. The commenter’s URL was for a drug addiction treatment facility website, and she posted to let me know that “a drug addiction is the same as an internet addiction, and both can ruin your life…” Okay, I know this is just a spam from someone trying to advertise their drug abuse treatment facility, but I was amused that the title of the message board was Ecstasy, which is also a drug. I assume that’s how she found my post…Weird! Also, I don’t think those two addictions are quite the same…
Today was a much less stressful day. I really like that I alternate college classes with visiting my Kindergarteners. It’s impossible to be in a bad mood around them, so all the stress I was feeling yesterday has been lifted for now. My site teacher is made of awesome and lets me help out SO much. Today, I did part of the language arts instruction, and also did calendar time with the kids. I only have 4 more days in there…I am going to miss them so much!
Rat Phobia?
- by Kecia
We just went out to eat at Longhorn (YUM!
) with some friends, and had to stop back by the house to let the puppy out before going over to the same friends’ house. I wanted to blog really quickly before heading up there, so that I don’t mess up my blogging streak!
Today was quite the bore. I didn’t roll out of bed until 11am, and then decided I should clean house because we thought we may have company tonight. So I straightened up everything, and swept, mopped, and vacuumed. We had two loads of clothes to do, so I put those in the washer while I was cleaning. When the first load was dry, I went out into the garage (yes, our laundry “closet” is located in the garage) to grab them, when I saw the most horrifying thing…a mouse running in front of and down the side of the dryer…
Now, if you know me, you will know that I ABSOLUTELY cannot stand rats. Seriously, whatever the phobia is for rats, I have it! No matter how tiny they are, they are all “rats” to me. I had rather have a spider crawling by me than a rat running by me. I don’t know why I am so terrified of them, but I am. Needless to say, once I saw it, I high-tailed my butt out of the garage…without bothering to finish the clothes. When James got home, he set a trap and put it out there. When we got home from dinner, we checked it, and the peanut butter was completely gone but the trap hadn’t been triggered. UGH! We’re setting it again before we head up to our friends’ house, so hopefully little mousey will be gone when we get home!
Mail Woes

Last week, I realized that I had misplaced the sync cable for my Zune, which meant I couldn’t charge or add/remove songs to it. Since I had a dead Zune, I decided to break down and buy a new cord. I found a combo deal on Ebay where I got the cord to connect the Zune to the computer, plus two adapters that could go onto the USB end of the cable…one to change it into an AC adapter and the other to change it into a car charger. Not a bad deal for $7.50 and free shipping!
I purchased it last Wednesday, and as of today I still had not received a shipping confirmation email. I messaged the seller today to see if it had been shipped. He/She assured me it had been shipped, and according to their tracking information, had been delivered at 3:07pm today. It was 4:00pm when I received this message…and I was a little annoyed because I hadn’t received anything. I thought it was going to be a “I sent it, sorry…” case where I was going to be out my $7.50 since I hadn’t purchased insurance. I messaged him back asking for a tracking number, and also telling him that I contacted UPS and they stated there was no package delivered to my address, nor was there a package en route to my address.
As soon as I messaged him, I went back through the listing. That’s when I realized that it was shipped through a method called UPS Innovation, which is a service of USPS…which means it would be in my mailbox! I went out to the end of the driveway, and sure enough, there it was in the box. I came back in and send another message telling the seller not to worry as I had received the package. I felt like an idiot, but I had never heard of USPS having a service for UPS…I thought they were two seperate entities!
Needless to say, I now have a charged Zune with a few more songs on it…ready for my trip to school tomorrow!
