I Don’t Bite!

 - by Kecia

I’ve had quite a bit of lurkers around here the past couple days. Out of 48 views yesterday, only 2 comments. Don’t be afraid to comment people! I will try to return the favor, as I can currently looking for active blogs to read.

Speaking of blogs, I almost lost mine today. Apparently my billing cycle for my hosting ended on December 3. I was probably notified by email, but my contact address with HostGator was an email I never use or check anymore. This morning I woke up to a suspended account page on all of my sites. I was paying semi-annually for the hosting, which meant I had a $60 past due amount to pay before I could have my account restored. Seeing as it’s almost Christmas and I have bought lots of gifts in the last 2 weeks, I don’t have that kind of money lying around. But, it all turned out okay. I spoke with HostGator’s support staff, and they changed my billing cycle to monthly, so it was just $10 to get everything restored. I was so thrilled with the support I was given today. I completely recommend HostGator to anyone…I have had no downtime with them, and they are so nice and friendly every time I need assistance. Okay, end plug :P

Today I had a very touching experience. My mom and I went to drop off our Secret Santa gifts. While we were there, we got to chatting with the ladies, and I found out that one of them was my little boy’s foster mother. For some reason this really just touched me, and made me so proud to have the chance to help these children during the holidays. The lady informed us that the little boy we bought for has cerebral palsy, and will love the gifts we bought for him. At this point, I was both happy and sad. I just wanted to hug that woman and thank her for being a foster mother! The lady in charge spoke with us about foster parenting and adoption, and it’s definitely something to think about. Helping children who have been abused or just neglected by their parents would be a wonderful thing to do, especially if I do not/can not have children of my own.

Best Week Ever!

 - by Kecia

So the week has been going pretty good, especially with the sale of the Kia. But today, it got even better!!

Backstory: I have been trying to get a job at a local daycare since the end of January, but have kinda been strung along. Everytime I called, they were “going to be selecting someone in a few days.” Same ol’, same ol’, everytime I called. I finally decided to stop calling. Well, my uncle’s ex works there, and she saw my mom in town a couple of weekends ago. She told my mom that they have yet to hire someone, and that I should continue to call until they do. I called the following week, and the lady said she would be out of town for the remainder of February, but she’d be selecting someone in March.

So, it’s now March. I waited until the middle of the week to call so she could get back into work and get settled in. I called today, and was asked to come in for a second interview. When I got there, she basically asked me 4 questions, then asked if I could start in the morning!!! I am so flippin’ happy!!! :D The degree I am getting in May will help me advance at this day care, and there is already hints being dropped that I will be able to take over the Pre-Kindergarten class when that teacher retires. For now though, I will just be working part-time around my school schedule. I will be working in the toddler room, which I think consists of 3 and 4 year old kids. I will be getting a minimum of 16 hours a week. The pay isn’t great (minimum wage), but she’s sure she can get me a raise once I graduate in May!

I wasn’t the only one in my family with good fortunes today! My sister got an acceptance letter from the college she REALLY wants to go to! She will be graduating high school in May, and her and my mom have been in “college mode” for a while now. I am really proud of her!! This is actually one of two colleges she’s thinking hard about, but I think this letter made up her mind for her. :D

I really wanna blog about some more stuff, but I’ll save it for tomorrow. I have to get my butt in bed, as I have to be at the day care at 8am, then college, then back to the day care until 6pm!! It’s gonna be a crazy day! :P
