The Busyness is About to Begin

    by  • December 5, 2010 • Ramblings

Yesterday we took Sawyer to get his Christmas pictures made. He did such a good job! We had planned to get him up at 8am, feed and dress him, and have him at the studio in time for the 9am appointment. However, he woke up on his own at 7:30am. That had us a little worried that he may be ready for a nap by the time we got to the studio and he started having his pictures taken. He was great for the first 10 minutes or so, while they took photos of him in a small Christmas box and then while sitting up on a black draped pillow. After that, he started to get tired. We got him to sleep, and then took some of him just in a diaper with a big red bow on his lower back. They turned out to be so adorable!! I will have the photos on Flickr once I steal the CD back from my mom.

This is the last weekend of freedom for us around here. Next weekend starts all the busyness that is Christmas family dinners. We still have to take the puppy to get his shots before we can leave him at the kennel the week after Christmas while we go on vacation. Oh, and if you are wondering, it is absolutely ridiculous to plan a 4 day mini-vaca the week after Christmas…especially with a newborn. It wouldn’t have been so bad if it had been another time of the year. We have had to cut back on our gift spending this year to be able to afford the trip. I know we will have fun once we get to Gatlingburg though!

    Almost There

I will be glad when November is over, because I think I’m getting a little burned out with blogging. I’m still on the right track though. With December around the corner, I’m sure my blogging will slow down over the holidays due to being so busy.

Tonight, my mom got Sawyer after she got off work. James and I went out to eat at our favorite Chinese buffet, and then by Wal-Mart to get a few groceries. When we got home, we cleaned the house. You know you are a parent when your “alone time” with each other involves cleaning! :P But, the house is now decorated for Christmas. The tree went up last night as well as all the other decorations we set out in the living room and kitchen. Now to find the time to wrap all the gifts that need to go under the tree!

    Black Friday Shopping Success

My day began extremely early when I got up at 2:40am to get ready. My mom and sister picked me up at 3:30am and we headed to Wal-Mart. We decided against taking Sawyer with us, so James stayed home with him. We were in Wal-Mart until 6am. My sister got the 8GB iPod Touch with a $50 gift card for $225, and my mom got the Canon Rebel bundle for $479. I didn’t have a high priced item that I wanted to wait in line for, but I did get several DVD’s for cheap as well as a learning puppy toy for Sawyer.

After Wal-Mart we headed to the mall. James met us at almost 8am for breakfast there. We hit up Sears and The Children’s place. After that, we went to the other Wal-Mart in town, and scored a bunch of other things. In all, I crossed everyone’s name of my shopping list except for James, Sawyer, and my step-dad. I still have to order James’ gift and the rest of Sawyer’s from Amazon.com, and my step-dad may just be getting a gift card from us. I also have to get James, Sawyer, and the puppy some stocking stuffers and then I’m finished!
