Exchanging Gifts with the Hubby

 - by Kecia

James and I decided to exchange our Christmas gifts last night. We used to have good intentions on waiting for Christmas day, but we haven’t been able to do that in the three previous Christmases we’ve been together, so this year, we figured why even try to wait that long. We’re just too impatient and excited about exchanging that we can’t wait :)

From James, I received Family Feud for the Wii, a blue Snuggie, a bluetooth headset for my Blackberry, the first book in the Southern Vampire series, and Cranium (board game). The Snuggie is awesome! When they first came out, I make fun of them a bit…as I saw them more, I realized how useful they would be. I lounged around the house most of the day today in mine, and stayed very good and warm. My bluetooth works great with my phone and fits comfortably in my ear. Hopefully I can try out the board game soon, as it takes 4 or more players to play. I sense a game night coming soon!

Ready for the Weekend

In my last entry, I forgot to mention my new Dell laptop arrived in the mail last week. I love it!! It’s running Vista, so I was afraid it would take some getting used to, since I’ve used XP for the last 5 years or so. My last laptop came with it, but since we bought it about a month after Vista came out, we bought all the Vista bugs as well. I ended up begging James to reformat it and install XP after having it just 2 days. With this one though, I have enough RAM to actually run Vista well, and I am really liking the new OS. It’s going to come in handy to have a new, fast running laptop for college.

Yesterday, I took the CAAP exam, which was required to graduate with an Associate’s degree. It was a fairly easy exam, and doesn’t count against me. I only had to do one section…Reading. Why couldn’t have gotten an easy section like Math? I was ready for it to be over with as soon as I got in there. My Environmental Science teacher finally posted my grade yesterday morning, and I finished the semester with A’s in both classes! I haven’t gotten a chance to register for fall classes yet, but I’m going to be giving the education department secretary a surprise visit on Monday morning to hopefully get that taken care of.

I also went to a Future Educator’s club meeting Thursday afternoon. It was a lot of fun, and I signed up to become a member. Networking is a great way to get through the 2 years of the teaching program. You meet a lot of people, and learn to depend on each other. I got a taste of what I’ll be doing the next 2 years of my life…mainly being stressed. I learned that I have to get rid of my procrastination habit by August if I want to make it through the program!

Today was spent doing absolutely nothing. James came home early, just because. He scared me to death because I was watching videos on my laptop, and I thought I heard the puppy moving around in the living room, then I heard footsteps in the hall. Apparently, the noise I heard was actually the front door quietly opening and closing. He deliberately trying to give me a heart attack! :) We were up very late last night, so we napped most of the evening. Now, at 9:30pm, he’s wanting to go out for dinner and then to Wal-Mart. Night owls, we are!

Tomorrow, we are scheduled to do a road race in the morning. If the rain keeps up, however, we won’t be walking/jogging. Not sure what’s planned for the rest of the weekend. I’m ready to just be lazy, as last weekend was consumed with school, and next weekend will be consumed by graduation and my cousin’s weeding.

Blog Fail

 - by Kecia

Since opening this blog, I had been trying to post every day. My goal was at least 30 consecutive days…but on the 29th day of my streak, I failed. Monday was quite a busy day…I had school, then dinner at my mom’s. When we got home from there, I wasn’t feeling well so I went to sleep around 10:30pm (a sure sign something was wrong…I’m rarely in bed by midnight!). So, I totally screwed up my goal. It’s after midnight now, so I technically haven’t blogged in two days. I am disappointed in myself!

On a better note, today was James’ birthday. He’s a St. Patty baby! :) He had gotten his present last month, so today all he received was a card. He decided to take the day off, and him and my step-dad went to pick up the futon for the guest bedroom. After I got out of school, we went down to Dave and Buster’s for dinner and to hang out in the arcade for a while. We had 1100 tickets from winning games at the D&B in Nashville, and tonight we won another 2500. Since it was his birthday, I told James to pick out anything he wanted using all the tickets we’d racked up. He ended up getting a drum set alarm clock that he’s going to sit on his desk at work. We still have a little over 11oo tickets for next time.

I’m so excited about tomorrow! After I get out of school, James and I are running over to Lowe’s on his lunch hour to pick out paint for the guest bedroom. We will probably be painting most of the evening. I can’t wait to post photos when it’s finished!
