8 Weeks Along Now…
- by Kecia
So, I’m now about 8 1/2 weeks pregnant, and am happy to report that I think the morning sickness is decreasing! The past two days I have felt much better, though I hope I don’t jinx myself by saying that. I cannot wait for my next doctor’s appointment on the 26th, just to make sure everything is going okay. I’ve been a lot sicker this time around though, so hopefully that means something!
I’ve been on the hunt for maternity clothes, as most of my jeans are already starting to feel a little snug. It turns out Wal-Mart and K-Mart have both stopped selling maternity clothes…which totally sucks because I am looking for good deals! There is a local baby store that also sells maternity, and they were running a good sale earlier this month, and I was able to get a few spring and summer items very cheap. Hopefully I can still fit into some of my own clothes until it warms up. I’ve been living in my sweats and lounge pants when I don’t have to be too dressy, which has helped the clothing issue.
James and I had a great Valentine’s day, although we didn’t do very much. We celebrated on Saturday night by going out to Longhorn. Yesterday, the day was spent at home, cleaning, but we also made time to cuddle and watch TV <3 . We are going out next weekend to celebrate our 4 year dating anniversary. Some people think it’s silly to celebrate that when only the wedding anniversary should be celebrated, but I think honoring the anniversary of how long we have been together is important too (and just another reason to celebrate!
) We are going to the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. I’ve never been there, but have been wanting to go for years. The show we will be watching is called “The Mystery of the Italian-Redneck Wedding,” and from the title, I’m sure it will be very funny and interesting! Not to mention, the menu is an all you can eat Italian (*drools*) buffet, so I’ll definitely be eating for two that night!!
Our Anniversary Weekend in Nashville
- by Kecia
Since I had a four day weekend this week (I’m always free on Fridays, and I don’t have my field placement on Monday since it’s Columbus Day and the schools are out), James and I decided to book a last minute trip to celebrate our wedding anniversary (it will be 2 years on Tuesday!). It was a toss up between Gatlinburg, TN and Nashville, TN, and we decided to choose Nashville because it requires less driving time and we’ve been to Gatlinburg many more times. We left Friday morning, and arrived here around noon (and gained an hour since they are in a different time zone). I forgot my camera, which made me totally angry with myself!
We first visited the Belmont Mansion, a plantation mansion owned by a wealthy woman in the 1800’s. It is now in the middle of Belmont College, and the house holds a lot of history. It was a beautiful home. It began raining as we finished our tour, so we had to run to the car. By the time we reached downtown, it had luckily stopped. We had lunch at B.B. King’s Blues Cafe. James had wanted to eat there last year but we never found the time. It was delicious, and very reasonably priced. After lunch, we headed to check into our hotel, the Holiday Inn. It’s really nice, and we have a whirlpool tub in our room.
The rest of the evening included a run to Target, dinner at KFC, and lounging in the room.
Saturday, we got up bright and early to get on the bus for the “Homes of the Stars” tour. We also did this tour last year, but we had a different driver this time, and saw a few different homes. I didn’t know Reese Witherspoon had a townhouse here in Nashville until yesterday! While on the tour, we passed by Riverfront Park where workers were putting together a stage on the water. Someone on the tour mentioned the stage was for Dierks Bentley’s performance taking place the following day. When we made it back to our hotel, I googled the concert and found out that for $20 a ticket, I could see Dierks, Eric Church, Darius Rucker, Heidi Newfield, Michelle Branch, and Wynonna Judd live!! We jumped on that deal! Plus, the performance is part of Dierks’ Miles & Music for Kids charity tour, so I’m glad that the proceeds go to the Children’s Miracle Network. We also made another Target run (I’m getting my fill since there’s no Target close to home
) for a blanket (grass seating) and a rain jacket (just in case). We also had a late lunch at Corky’s, an excellent BBQ place.
The rest of the evening was a repeated of Friday, with a lot lounging and watching TV.This is my weekend to take it easy, and I didn’t want to spend the entire time running around. Plus, I have discovered a lot of new shoes that I would like to continue watching, namely “The Biggest Loser” (yeah, this was my first time every watching this show…) and “The Last 10 Pounds”. This morning, we are relaxing a bit more before checking out and heading downtown for the concert, then it’s back to Georgia for us.
Hello March!
- by Kecia
I have to tell you, 2009 is flying by! It seems like only yesterday we were ringing in the new year, and now we’re already into month #3. We have a couple of birthdays to celebrate this month. My brother will be turning 15 on March 9, and James will be 29 on March 17 (He’s a St. Patty baby!
) Other than that, nothing too exciting happening this month.
Last night, James and I went over to our friends’ house to party with them before the guy gets deployed later this month. We were having a good time…until the drama started. He (our friend) likes to create drama when we drink…I don’t understand why, but it ends up with everyone quickly sobering up and no longer having fun. Last night was no exception.
I have decided I am giving up the partying and having fun which involves alcohol. I know I should anyway since we are trying to have a baby. I only do it a few times a year, if any. 95% of the time, there is a reason for the partying…whether it be a holiday (New Year’s Eve, for example), a birthday, or, as I stated, a going away shindig. So, I am done with alcohol, as all it seems to lead to for me is drama…and I prefer to live as drama free as possible so if it takes no longer drinking to keep it out of my world, then so be it.
Today has been quite a lazy day. I had decided to plan a date night with James, which included dinner and a movie. There is nothing in the theater at the moment that I am just dying to see, but we settled in “Paul Blart: Mall Cop.” The biggest reason we wanted to catch a movie was to check out the snazzy new theater that just opened at the end of January. It’s still the same company (Carmike Cinemas), but it’s in a new building and have 12 screens. After we finished eating though, we both decided we were too tired to sit through a movie that we didn’t really have our hearts set on watching. I do want to see that movie, but I think we’ll just Netflix it instead.
