If you’re currently in a relationship how long have you been dating/married/etc? How did you meet? If you’re not what is your ideal relationship like and what do you look for in a s/o?

James and I have been together for 5 1/2 years, and married for almost four (our anniversary is October 13). We met on MySpace on February 5, 2006. I was working 3rd shift at that time, so I was awake and bored around 5am that morning. I searched for people several miles away from my zip code just to see if I knew anyone that I hadn’t added. That’s when I came across James’ profile. He was really cute and sounded like a great person, so I messaged him. He happened to be awake at that time as well, and messaged me back. We moved to conversation to Yahoo Messenger.

Over the next couple weeks, we talked off and on. It was difficult for us to find each other online because of our varying work schedules (he worked 2nd shift). On February 12, he kept mentioning he was hungry. I asked him if he wanted to meet up for dinner and he said yes. We had our first meeting at Dairy Queen later that afternoon. We officially became a couple on February 18, 2006, which is also when we went on our first date to Olive Garden and then to see Date Movie.

Today was the first time in I am not sure when that I have been completely free of everything. Usually, when Sawyer goes to my mom’s, James is still home. About 75% of our baby free days/nights, we go out and do something, even if it’s just dinner, shopping, or riding around. The other 25% of that time, we hang out at home, watching movies, playing games, and other fun stuff. When James watches him to give me some free time, I either go out with my mom and/or sister, work, or clean. All that is fun or needs to be done.

I feel like I never get *ME* time. I am not really complaining because I love my role as a stay at home wife and mom, but sometimes, it would be nice to get a break…not just from my baby either. I couldn’t tell you the last time that I have been free from all commitments…I honestly don’t think it’s been anytime since Sawyer has been born. James has gotten a little bit of free time while on his two business trips he’s taken this year. Granted he spends all of that time in a hotel room, but at least he has the option to go out and explore the location he’s at or just relax without dirty diapers, chores, and work.

Last Friday, when I had to go pick up James from his business trip, I was alone for a few hours. My sister had taken Sawyer back with her to her house because he was staying the night there. However, I worked up until I had to get ready to pick him up so I didn’t really get to enjoy the alone time.

Today, however, was awesome. James took Sawyer to visit with some of his family about 45 minutes away. No one was here but me. I had no work commitments that had to be done. So, from about 1:20pm until a little after 6:30pm, I did absolutely nothing…and it felt great! Well, I take that back. Most of the time was spent laying on the couch, laptop on my lap. I did get up and eat lunch exactly when I wanted, rather than when a certain little monkey was napping or playing happily in his play pen or highchair. It was only 5 hours, but it was SO nice!

And now that we are back in reality, I have about 3 loads of laundry and a living room and kitchen that need to be cleaned!

James and I had a wonderful weekend. Friday made 5 years that he and I have been together, so my mom wanted Sawyer for the weekend to give us some time to ourselves. He said with her from Friday afternoon until today, and I was a little nervous about being away from him that long when we dropped him off Friday. I was okay though, and of course, Sawyer was fine as well

The baby-free weekend began when we went out to eat at Texas Roadhouse. I had the best steak I’ve ever had at a restaurant. It was cooked just right and there was absolutely no fat on it. The waiter said they had one of the best meat cutters in the city working there, and I can attest to that. After dinner, we went to a local used bookstore and spent $30 on Sawyer. We got him 10 books and Happy Feet on DVD. I love buying him books…I feel so much better spending it on something educational than on clothing or toys he doesn’t really need since he has plenty of each.

We headed home after the bookstore and just relaxed in the living room. James played some Rock Band 3 while I played online. Saturday, I was up by 7:30am after going to bed about 2:30am the night before. There was absolutely no reason for me to be up that early, as I don’t even get up that early when Sawyer is home. It probably had something to do with being excited about the busy day we were going to have. We got ready and left for a 2 hour drive to a city just above Atlanta. Our first stop was to the Apple store to pick up my new iPhone. That took a little over an hour, but there was no problems with me using James’ annual upgrade. The only thing was they couldn’t get my contacts to transfer from my LG EnV3, so I had to manually add them. No biggie though.

After getting the phone, James and I just drove around for a while. Neither of us had been to the city in a couple of years, so we just drove around and checked out the new stores that were there. Around 4:30pm, we headed to dinner at The Melting Pot. It was as delicious as always. I love that my husband isn’t a big fan of most seafood, as I got to have the lobster tail all to myself. We chose the Big Night Out, which gave us 4 fondue courses. The spinach and artichoke cheese fondue was so yummy. Then we got salads, which I just nibbled on a bit because I didn’t go to The Melting Pot for lettuce! The main course consisted of filet mignon, peppercorn steak, chicken, duck, lobster tail, and shrimp with broccoli and potatoes as the sides. We finished off dinner with the Flaming Turtle, which is milk chocolate, caramel, and pecans. YUM!!

Today, James and I slept in until almost noon. My mom and sister brought Sawyer home a little after 1pm, and I was so happy to see my little monkey again. Not too much went on today, except I finished setting up my iPhone by putting all of my music and apps from my iPod Touch onto it. I gave my mom my iPod Touch, as she’s become quite addicted to a few apps on my sister’s. We also ventured to Wal-Mart for groceries, had spaghetti for supper, and bathed the baby and put him to bed. Now we’re about to make Sawyer some homemade baby food! He turned 5 months old today, so I’ll be writing a letter to him tomorrow!

I had my 6 week postpartum check up today. I have officially lost 18 of the 23 pounds I put on during this pregnancy. Everything has healed nicely, and my OB cleared me to do all of the things I could not do in the past 6 weeks. That means I can start going to the gym to remove the remaining 5 pounds, as well as the other 75 I need to get rid of! I am excited about this. James, my sister, and I all signed up at the beginning of October at a new gym while it was running its grand opening specials. They have been going without me, so I will be a bit behind, but at least I’ll be working off this flab!

Tonight is Sawyer’s first night staying with his Nana. This means my first night without him. He is almost 7 weeks old, so I know he will be okay. Right now, I feel like I will enjoy the short break, and the full night of sleep that I will get, but I may be missing him later this evening! James and I are going to have a nice dinner out and then just relax at home. I don’t want to be gone all night because I rarely get the chance to be at home and not have anything to do, so I am going to take advantage!

I want to blog so bad, but I fill that I have absolutely nothing good to say! Oh wait, I can first talk about our date night over the weekend. Saturday night, James and I went out to celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary. We had dinner at a local Chinese buffet that I hadn’t eaten at since before I got pregnant (yes, I stayed away from the MSG!). It was SO delicious, though there were a couple of my favorite foods that were not on the buffet that night. After food, we went to see “Life as We Know It.” It is a really good movie, definitely one of my new favorites. I love anything with Katherine Heigl in it, and Josh Duhamel made it even better. It even made me tear up a bit when some parents died (that wasn’t a spoiler…it’s in the synopsis!), because I immediately thought about what would happen to Sawyer in that situation. Being a new mom brings an entire set of new emotions with it!

Speaking of Sawyer, the little monkey is 4 weeks old today. Was it really 4 weeks ago that experience the worst pain, and yet the best day, of my life? It doesn’t seem like it’s been that long! He will be one month old, going by the date, on Wednesday. I plan to write letters to him each month on here like I have seen other bloggers do, so that is something for you all to look forward to. It’s amazing to see how much he’s grown in the past 4 weeks. He’s becoming such a little piglet! His one month check up is Friday, so I cannot wait to see how much he has gained in his weight and height.

Guess I had things to say after all!

James and I had our third wedding anniversary Wednesday. It’s a bit hard to believe that our wedding day was three years ago. Sometimes, when I think about it, it seems like it was forever ago. Then other times, it seems like just yesterday. It really depends on what is going on at the time that makes me feel one way or the other. We will have been together 5 years come February, and most of the time, it doesn’t seem like that long! All I know is this has been the best almost 5 years of my life. I love being married to my best friend. <3

We have decided to celebrate our anniversary this evening rather than Wednesday so that we would have a babysitter. Sawyer is going to spend the evening (Read: Not the entire night! ) with his Nana while we go enjoy dinner and a movie. It’s the classic date night, but it’s something we have not done in a REALLY long time so we figure it will be fun. We are going to a Chinese buffet that we have not been to since before I got pregnant, and then to see “Life As We Know It.” If time permits, I want to run by Wal-Mart for groceries, but that just seems a little too domestic for a special occasion, don’t you think?

Sawyer had his two week check yesterday. He weighed 8 lbs, 9.5 ounces, which puts him in the 50th percentile. He was 22 1/4 inches long, which puts him in the 97th percentile for height. So, basically he is an extra long kid at average weight. His umbilical cord stump fell off last Saturday, and it has become infected in the past couple of days. His pediatrician prescribed him an oral antibiotic and an ointment for it. Other than that, he is doing great. He goes back two weeks from now for his 1 month check up.

We are getting a small break from our little monkey tonight. My mom is coming over to babysit while James and I run to Wal-Mart for groceries. I think she also plans to babysit for us either Wednesday or next weekend, so that we can go out to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We have been married for 3 years now…The time has really flown by. It doesn’t seem like we’ve been together almost 5 years (come February) either. We are probably just going to do something simple like dinner and a movie. This will be the first year that we have not went away for at least the weekend for our anniversary, but there is absolutely no way that I could be away from Sawyer for even one night right now!

Today’s blog prompt asks us to name 10 things we love about our significant other/pet/children/etc…basically someone we are close to! I chose to do my list on my hubby…there are so many reasons that I love the guy, so hopefully I can stick with just 10!

He is so supportive of me. Even when others think I am doing something wrong, James is always standing behind me, pushing me to accomplish whatever it is I want to do.

He is VERY laid back. This took some getting used to, as I’m used to having argumentative people in my life. Being with him has helped me improve my communication skills, especially when I’m mad or upset.

He’s just so adorable! He can have his moments, but he can also do/say the sweetest things at the right moments. <3

He’s goal oriented. He has things he wants to accomplish in life, and works hard toward them until he reaches his goals.

He’s patient and forgiving. I mess up a lot, and do stupid things. He always accepts my apologies, and does not hold grudges.

He loves me for me. He often tells me I’m beautiful, and he loves me just the way I am…even when I’m having one of those “I’m fat, my clothes don’t fit, and I never want to eat again” moments.

He wants me to have his babies (good thing, since his first will be here in 3 months! ). He says that before him and I got together, he did not want children…actually when we first started dating, he said he didn’t think he wanted them. He now says he just had to find the right person to have them with.

He loves to cuddle. I sleep best when I am in his arms…good thing he never gets tired of it.

My parents love him. I didn’t mean to pick someone like that, but it’s great that they all get along so well.

He is really smart. If I don’t know something and ask him about it, more often than not he knows the answer. He also has tons of useless knowledge, which can get a little annoying at times, but I wouldn’t want it any other way!

I cannot wait for my next doctor’s appointment on the 26th, just to make sure everything is going okay. I’ve been a lot sicker this time around though, so hopefully that means something!

I’ve been on the hunt for maternity clothes, as most of my jeans are already starting to feel a little snug. It turns out Wal-Mart and K-Mart have both stopped selling maternity clothes…which totally sucks because I am looking for good deals! There is a local baby store that also sells maternity, and they were running a good sale earlier this month, and I was able to get a few spring and summer items very cheap. Hopefully I can still fit into some of my own clothes until it warms up. I’ve been living in my sweats and lounge pants when I don’t have to be too dressy, which has helped the clothing issue.

James and I had a great Valentine’s day, although we didn’t do very much. We celebrated on Saturday night by going out to Longhorn. Yesterday, the day was spent at home, cleaning, but we also made time to cuddle and watch TV <3 . We are going out next weekend to celebrate our 4 year dating anniversary. Some people think it’s silly to celebrate that when only the wedding anniversary should be celebrated, but I think honoring the anniversary of how long we have been together is important too (and just another reason to celebrate! ) We are going to the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater. I’ve never been there, but have been wanting to go for years. The show we will be watching is called “The Mystery of the Italian-Redneck Wedding,” and from the title, I’m sure it will be very funny and interesting! Not to mention, the menu is an all you can eat Italian (*drools*) buffet, so I’ll definitely be eating for two that night!!
