    New Way to Learn Beauty

    by  • October 26, 2010 • Commerical Break

A lot of my classmates that I graduated with have gone on to college out of state, or at least out of this town. Some decided instead to go to the local beauty school in my area. This is an idea I have never considered for myself. I don’t really have the creativity for cosmetology, so it was never really an option. My cousin graduated high school last year, and is now looking at these types of schools. Of course, she’s probably not looking for cosmetology schools in Arizona, but the Kohler Academy would be an ideal place to study if she lived closer.

The Kohler Academy focuses on academic and technical expertise, but also allows students to get involved with clubs and other activities. The beauty school in my area doesn’t offer anything other than classes. No extra involvement here. They also provide a 3 day schedule, which allows their students to still hold jobs and have a life outside of the classroom. Students at this school can also take advantage of the study abroad program to visit places such as Rome, Italy and London, England. This seems like a very nice school…one I would recommend for anyone in the area of Scottsdale, Arizona based on the benefits alone.

This is Sponsored post written for the Kohler Academy. All opinions are 100% mine.

    A Bittersweet Day

    by  • June 16, 2010 • Ramblings

Today was quite the bittersweet day. I was excited that it was the last day of classes, but that meant no more classes with my friends. They will be starting Section 3 in August, but I will not be able to join them…What I am doing will be even more exciting, don’t get me wrong, but I will miss them. It will not be the same when I go back, as they will be working on the last section (student teaching), while I’ll still be on Section 2.

Today, our little group went to Cracker Barrel to eat after the Statistics final. I plan to meet up with them for lunches when they start back to school, but it still will not be the same. :( It was a great brunch though (it was 10:30, so I had breakfast for the second time).

One of my classmates is almost 23 years old, and was freaking out because she ordered sausage patties and her boyfriend was not there to cut them up for her. She said she usually doesn’t order meat in public since she doesn’t know how to properly cut it. We asked her to show us how she usually cuts it when she does it herself, and she was so embarrassed to show us…even though she did it correctly! We all had a nice laugh about that…the girl seriously blows things way out of proportion and stresses herself out of unnecessary things. Just another thing I will miss! :P

I’ve already received my grade for Children’s Literature, which was an A. My Statistics grade has not been posted, but I had a 97 average going into the final, so I’m sure I kept an A in there as well. Hopefully these two grades will help pull my hours attempted versus hours completed ratio up so that I will have financial aid when I return. If not, I have get to go through the lovely appeal process [/sarcasm].

    Halfway There!

    by  • June 15, 2010 • Ramblings

Today marks my 15th consecutive day of blogging for the month. Ecstasy’s Project Blog has kept me motivated to write a little something every day…and I am really enjoying it. Though, today’s blog is going to be a bit boring, as it’s done in a hurry so I can finish the writing assignment I’m currently working on and study for tomorrow Statistics final. After tomorrow though, I should be free to sit down and actually write something good!

I took my last Children’s Literature test today, made an 84. Not very happy about it, but I took too long looking through the book for the answers and almost ran out of time. That’s what I get for not actually reading the chapters beforehand! I’m still waiting on two grades to be posted online for that class, but I’m pretty confident I made an A in there. That just leaves me to worry about Statistics. I had a 96 average before taking yesterday’s test, which will not get back before the final tomorrow. I hate that it’s a cumulative final…there’s just too much stuff to pile into one test! My professor gave us a review test though, so hopefully if I look back over it tonight, everything will stay with me until the test in the morning.

So, my new cell phone was supposed to arrive today, but thanks to USPS’s crappy service, the Express Mail I requested (but didn’t pay extra for, thank goodness!) is pretty much meaningless. The package arrived in my city at 11am, was attempted to be delivered at 11:40am (I was at school), and then sat on someone’s truck until closing time today. Around 4pm, the tracking information was updated to say they left a notice. I went by the post office at 3:30pm to try to pick it up, and they said a carrier still had it. Once I saw the update to the tracking, I searched my front porch and mailbox for a notice….there isn’t one out there. Hopefully it won’t be a pain in the butt to go pick it up at the post office tomorrow…
