A lot of my classmates that I graduated with have gone on to college out of state, or at least out of this town. Some decided instead to go to the local beauty school in my area. This is an idea I have never considered for myself. I don’t really have the creativity for cosmetology, so it was never really an option. My cousin graduated high school last year, and is now looking at these types of schools. Of course, she’s probably not looking for cosmetology schools in Arizona, but the Kohler Academy would be an ideal place to study if she lived closer.

The Kohler Academy focuses on academic and technical expertise, but also allows students to get involved with clubs and other activities. The beauty school in my area doesn’t offer anything other than classes. No extra involvement here. They also provide a 3 day schedule, which allows their students to still hold jobs and have a life outside of the classroom. Students at this school can also take advantage of the study abroad program to visit places such as Rome, Italy and London, England. This seems like a very nice school…one I would recommend for anyone in the area of Scottsdale, Arizona based on the benefits alone.

This is Sponsored post written for the Kohler Academy. All opinions are 100% mine.

Today was quite the bittersweet day. I was excited that it was the last day of classes, but that meant no more classes with my friends. They will be starting Section 3 in August, but I will not be able to join them…What I am doing will be even more exciting, don’t get me wrong, but I will miss them. It will not be the same when I go back, as they will be working on the last section (student teaching), while I’ll still be on Section 2.

Today, our little group went to Cracker Barrel to eat after the Statistics final. I plan to meet up with them for lunches when they start back to school, but it still will not be the same. It was a great brunch though (it was 10:30, so I had breakfast for the second time).

One of my classmates is almost 23 years old, and was freaking out because she ordered sausage patties and her boyfriend was not there to cut them up for her. She said she usually doesn’t order meat in public since she doesn’t know how to properly cut it. We asked her to show us how she usually cuts it when she does it herself, and she was so embarrassed to show us…even though she did it correctly! We all had a nice laugh about that…the girl seriously blows things way out of proportion and stresses herself out of unnecessary things. Just another thing I will miss!

I’ve already received my grade for Children’s Literature, which was an A. My Statistics grade has not been posted, but I had a 97 average going into the final, so I’m sure I kept an A in there as well. Hopefully these two grades will help pull my hours attempted versus hours completed ratio up so that I will have financial aid when I return. If not, I have get to go through the lovely appeal process [/sarcasm].

Today marks my 15th consecutive day of blogging for the month. Ecstasy’s Project Blog has kept me motivated to write a little something every day…and I am really enjoying it. Though, today’s blog is going to be a bit boring, as it’s done in a hurry so I can finish the writing assignment I’m currently working on and study for tomorrow Statistics final. After tomorrow though, I should be free to sit down and actually write something good!

I took my last Children’s Literature test today, made an 84. Not very happy about it, but I took too long looking through the book for the answers and almost ran out of time. That’s what I get for not actually reading the chapters beforehand! I’m still waiting on two grades to be posted online for that class, but I’m pretty confident I made an A in there. That just leaves me to worry about Statistics. I had a 96 average before taking yesterday’s test, which will not get back before the final tomorrow. I hate that it’s a cumulative final…there’s just too much stuff to pile into one test! My professor gave us a review test though, so hopefully if I look back over it tonight, everything will stay with me until the test in the morning.

So, my new cell phone was supposed to arrive today, but thanks to USPS’s crappy service, the Express Mail I requested (but didn’t pay extra for, thank goodness!) is pretty much meaningless. The package arrived in my city at 11am, was attempted to be delivered at 11:40am (I was at school), and then sat on someone’s truck until closing time today. Around 4pm, the tracking information was updated to say they left a notice. I went by the post office at 3:30pm to try to pick it up, and they said a carrier still had it. Once I saw the update to the tracking, I searched my front porch and mailbox for a notice….there isn’t one out there. Hopefully it won’t be a pain in the butt to go pick it up at the post office tomorrow…

Summer semester will be over Wednesday, and its end cannot come soon enough. My Children’s Literature class ends tomorrow with the last test (there is no final), and I have a Statistics test tomorrow as well. Then my Statistics final early Wednesday morning, and I will be able to enjoy the summer a bit more. I hope to tackle lots of writing projects and lounge by the pool until I get too miserable to do either. I’ve been using swimming as a good way to get exercise, as it is a good break in the monotony of a treadmill. I’ve been to my stepdad’s mom’s pool 3 times in the last week, and haven’t burned a bit. *knock on wood* Mary Kay sunblock is awesome, especially on my whiteness.

Finishing the semester will also free me up to do better on my blog commenting. I’ve gone 14 days straight with blogging, but I’m slacking on returning comments and cleaning out my Google reader. I hope to remedy both this week. I’d also like to find new blogs to read, as some in my feed reader haven’t been updated in months. It’s always interesting to find new blogs that catch my eye!

While I am writing this, Sawyer is kicking up a storm. He has gotten so much more active within the past 2 weeks. He especially loves to move around in there when I lay down to go to sleep. I’m thinking he may be a night owl like his mama! I love that he moves a lot though, as it lets me know things are okay inside the womb. I am really ready to get to the doctor at the end of this month for the glucose test. I have craved so many carbs this pregnancy that I am worried my sugar may be high. Hopefully things will be okay though!

James is back home today, after being gone on a business trip since Monday. The days went by faster than I thought they would, and I was actually able to sleep at night without him beside me. Since we met, we haven’t spent that much time apart, so I thought I’d go crazy without him here. My sister stayed with me and I had school to keep me busy, so I wasn’t depressed the entire time!

Speaking of school, summer semester is kicking my butt! There is SO much to get done in SO little time. I’m managing to stay on top of things though, and get assignments completed before their due dates. Statistics is getting a bit difficult…the class would have been so much easier if I had a little bit of background knowledge going in. Our second test is Tuesday, and I am dreading it! Children’s Literature isn’t as bad, but there’s a lot to do in there. I’ve gotten two projects out of the way, am over halfway finished with the third, and have yet to be begin the fourth.

I’m ready for school to be over with, so I can get back to writing and bringing in some money. Our little guy will be here in just 4 months, so I want to have some money put back by then, for last minute purchases and things we’ve forgotten. Plus, I’ll be taking some time off after he’s here, so I need some money to compensate for that.

Summer semester started Tuesday, and I think it will prove to be the busiest 4 weeks of my life! I’m only taking 2 classes, but because they are condensed into a short time period, it seems we have twice as much work than when I have 4-5 classes in a full semester. My first class is Probability and Statistics for Teachers…which I am still unsure why it’s required for us to take. All of the material is too advanced for the students I’ll be teaching, but for some reason, they think we need it anyways? It’s not too bad though, just fast paced. In a four day week (I go Monday-Thursday), we cover 3 chapters, review on the third day, then test on the fourth. This ends up being 4 tests and 1 final. The material in the first 3 chapters hasn’t been too bad…now if it will only stay that way.

My other class is Children’s Literature. I’d really like this class if it wasn’t so much work involved (or I had more time to get it all done). We have four major assignments and three tests to complete in there. I have finished the first assignment, and am well on my way to completing two of the others. We have to do 3 hours of fieldwork for this class, which is a bit ridiculous since it’s so close to the end of the year. I did my 3 hours today in a Kindergarten class, 2 of which consisted of watching the school talent show, then lunch. I also had to read the class a children’s book using visual aids (that I created myself), so that was quite fun. One thing fieldwork does is make me want to be a teacher SO bad!

I think as long as I stay on top of things, I shouldn’t have a problem getting everything done in time.

Sidenote: 22 weeks today!! Only 18 more to go!

So I will apparently be returning to college to take two classes during the summer semester. I found out after withdrawing from 5 classes in the spring (and keeping one) that I was going to be placed on financial aid probation. My hours attempted versus hours completed ratio was too low to be eligible for aid any longer, and I would have to file an appeal to get future aid.

I spoke with financial aid again Tuesday, and was told that I am actually not on probation yet, and that I have a full year to bring that ratio back up in order to continue receiving aid. Therefore, I am going to take the two classes I should have been taking anyway this summer: Statistics for Teachers and Children’s Literature. Hopefully this will bring that ratio back up. I’ll be in these classes (taking one at a time) from May 18-July 17, so there’s a big portion of my summer gone! I am also planning to return full time to school in January, given that everything turns out okay with the baby.

Speaking of the baby…I’m 20 weeks today, meaning my little guy is halfway done baking in there! These past 20 weeks haven’t gone by as slow as I thought they would, and hopefully the next 20 will go back just as fast. They will be consumed with school, getting the nursery ready, a new parent class, and a baby shower to look forward to, so I’m thinking they won’t drag by!

Guess it’s time to resurrect my blog! This year is flying by so fast, and January was crazy busy. I have tons of schoolwork already, as we started our field placements sooner than we did last semester. This means less time to get things done. I also found out in January that I am pregnant! I will be 7 weeks along Friday. I’m super excited, but at the same time, nervous. Every day closer to getting out of the first trimester reduces the worry though. I’ve already had one prenatal appointment, and got to see the little bean and its heartbeat!! <3 <3

Other than that, I haven’t been doing much. I’m trying to get back into writing so I can earn some money to spend on the baby. It’s a slow process because all the morning sickness is making me want to do absolutely nothing but lay around, as is the fatigue. I hope it gets better soon, cause I’m tired of nibbling on crackers! :yummy:

I am not exactly keeping up my resolution to blog more, but until today, I really haven’t had anything to say!

Yesterday was my first day back to school. Things went okay, and I think I’ll like my Thursday classes and professors. We did get to leave an hour and a half early due to the snow that started around noon. I was a bit scared driving home, as that was my first time driving in snow. I made it home fine though, and spent the rest of the night hanging out with James and our friend Austin. He ended up getting snowed in here (more like iced in actually, because a lot of roads between here and his house were ‘inadvisable’ to drive on a few hours after dark.

Weight loss is still going good. I opened a blog to supplement my progress and journey with The Curvy Girls, but I have really slacked on updating it. I just can’t get into having more than one blog anymore. Therefore, I am just going to post a weekly update each Friday regarding my weight loss here. I’m thinking about also posting recipes, tips, and other weight loss/healthy living information. To bring everyone up-to-date on my progress, my official start date for this venture was December 18th. I do my videos on Fridays, and my first video went live on this date. I weighed in at 224lbs. As of today, I am down to 220.2. Not a huge loss during the past 3 weeks, but I’m looking for slow and steady so that I can really change my life and keep the weight off once I reach my goal. Plus, 2lbs were lost during the holidays, so that is an accomplishment all in itself!!

I am hopeful that 2010 will be better than 2009. Not that last year was that bad, but it definitely wasn’t one of my favorite years. I plan to work toward making this year better though! The first 3 days of it have been rather boring, as I haven’t really done anything. We didn’t go out for New Year’s…I actually haven’t left the house since last Wednesday. I don’t think I’ve went this long at home in a while. Staying in hasn’t bothered me one bit though, especially since I realized that once school starts back on Thursday, I won’t get a break this long from it until mid-July!

Speaking of school, I am hoping my student loan balance is freed up by tomorrow so that I can go get the books I need. I have more than enough money left over after tuition is paid, I just have to wait for them to release it so I can charge the books. It sucks that I can’t physically have the money sooner, so that I could get the books elsewhere at a better price. They won’t make the money available for withdrawal until the second week of classes though, and I like to have by books before the first day. We’ll see how that works out I guess!
