    Winding Down

    by  • June 14, 2010 • Ramblings

Summer semester will be over Wednesday, and its end cannot come soon enough. My Children’s Literature class ends tomorrow with the last test (there is no final), and I have a Statistics test tomorrow as well. Then my Statistics final early Wednesday morning, and I will be able to enjoy the summer a bit more. I hope to tackle lots of writing projects and lounge by the pool until I get too miserable to do either. I’ve been using swimming as a good way to get exercise, as it is a good break in the monotony of a treadmill. I’ve been to my stepdad’s mom’s pool 3 times in the last week, and haven’t burned a bit. *knock on wood* Mary Kay sunblock is awesome, especially on my whiteness.

Finishing the semester will also free me up to do better on my blog commenting. I’ve gone 14 days straight with blogging, but I’m slacking on returning comments and cleaning out my Google reader. I hope to remedy both this week. I’d also like to find new blogs to read, as some in my feed reader haven’t been updated in months. It’s always interesting to find new blogs that catch my eye!

While I am writing this, Sawyer is kicking up a storm. He has gotten so much more active within the past 2 weeks. He especially loves to move around in there when I lay down to go to sleep. I’m thinking he may be a night owl like his mama! ;) I love that he moves a lot though, as it lets me know things are okay inside the womb. I am really ready to get to the doctor at the end of this month for the glucose test. I have craved so many carbs this pregnancy that I am worried my sugar may be high. Hopefully things will be okay though!

    My Honey’s Back

James is back home today, after being gone on a business trip since Monday. The days went by faster than I thought they would, and I was actually able to sleep at night without him beside me. Since we met, we haven’t spent that much time apart, so I thought I’d go crazy without him here. My sister stayed with me and I had school to keep me busy, so I wasn’t depressed the entire time!

Speaking of school, summer semester is kicking my butt! There is SO much to get done in SO little time. I’m managing to stay on top of things though, and get assignments completed before their due dates. Statistics is getting a bit difficult…the class would have been so much easier if I had a little bit of background knowledge going in. Our second test is Tuesday, and I am dreading it! Children’s Literature isn’t as bad, but there’s a lot to do in there. I’ve gotten two projects out of the way, am over halfway finished with the third, and have yet to be begin the fourth.

I’m ready for school to be over with, so I can get back to writing and bringing in some money. Our little guy will be here in just 4 months, so I want to have some money put back by then, for last minute purchases and things we’ve forgotten. Plus, I’ll be taking some time off after he’s here, so I need some money to compensate for that.

    Summer Semester = Busy Me!

    by  • May 21, 2010 • Ramblings

Summer semester started Tuesday, and I think it will prove to be the busiest 4 weeks of my life! I’m only taking 2 classes, but because they are condensed into a short time period, it seems we have twice as much work than when I have 4-5 classes in a full semester. My first class is Probability and Statistics for Teachers…which I am still unsure why it’s required for us to take. All of the material is too advanced for the students I’ll be teaching, but for some reason, they think we need it anyways? :what: It’s not too bad though, just fast paced. In a four day week (I go Monday-Thursday), we cover 3 chapters, review on the third day, then test on the fourth. This ends up being 4 tests and 1 final. The material in the first 3 chapters hasn’t been too bad…now if it will only stay that way.

My other class is Children’s Literature. I’d really like this class if it wasn’t so much work involved (or I had more time to get it all done). We have four major assignments and three tests to complete in there. I have finished the first assignment, and am well on my way to completing two of the others. We have to do 3 hours of fieldwork for this class, which is a bit ridiculous since it’s so close to the end of the year. I did my 3 hours today in a Kindergarten class, 2 of which consisted of watching the school talent show, then lunch. I also had to read the class a children’s book using visual aids (that I created myself), so that was quite fun. One thing fieldwork does is make me want to be a teacher SO bad!

I think as long as I stay on top of things, I shouldn’t have a problem getting everything done in time.

Sidenote: 22 weeks today!! Only 18 more to go! :)
