It is Alive!

 - by Kecia

Guess it’s time to resurrect my blog! This year is flying by so fast, and January was crazy busy. I have tons of schoolwork already, as we started our field placements sooner than we did last semester. This means less time to get things done. I also found out in January that I am pregnant! I will be 7 weeks along Friday. I’m super excited, but at the same time, nervous. Every day closer to getting out of the first trimester reduces the worry though. I’ve already had one prenatal appointment, and got to see the little bean and its heartbeat!! <3 <3

Other than that, I haven’t been doing much. I’m trying to get back into writing so I can earn some money to spend on the baby. It’s a slow process because all the morning sickness is making me want to do absolutely nothing but lay around, as is the fatigue. I hope it gets better soon, cause I’m tired of nibbling on crackers! :yummy:

I Don’t Bite!

I’ve had quite a bit of lurkers around here the past couple days. Out of 48 views yesterday, only 2 comments. Don’t be afraid to comment people! I will try to return the favor, as I can currently looking for active blogs to read.

Speaking of blogs, I almost lost mine today. Apparently my billing cycle for my hosting ended on December 3. I was probably notified by email, but my contact address with HostGator was an email I never use or check anymore. This morning I woke up to a suspended account page on all of my sites. I was paying semi-annually for the hosting, which meant I had a $60 past due amount to pay before I could have my account restored. Seeing as it’s almost Christmas and I have bought lots of gifts in the last 2 weeks, I don’t have that kind of money lying around. But, it all turned out okay. I spoke with HostGator’s support staff, and they changed my billing cycle to monthly, so it was just $10 to get everything restored. I was so thrilled with the support I was given today. I completely recommend HostGator to anyone…I have had no downtime with them, and they are so nice and friendly every time I need assistance. Okay, end plug :P

Today I had a very touching experience. My mom and I went to drop off our Secret Santa gifts. While we were there, we got to chatting with the ladies, and I found out that one of them was my little boy’s foster mother. For some reason this really just touched me, and made me so proud to have the chance to help these children during the holidays. The lady informed us that the little boy we bought for has cerebral palsy, and will love the gifts we bought for him. At this point, I was both happy and sad. I just wanted to hug that woman and thank her for being a foster mother! The lady in charge spoke with us about foster parenting and adoption, and it’s definitely something to think about. Helping children who have been abused or just neglected by their parents would be a wonderful thing to do, especially if I do not/can not have children of my own.

The Hiatus is Over…

 - by Kecia

I’m back! It didn’t take me long to miss blogging. I’ve done it off and on for the past 2 1/2 years, so it’s just something I should do, you know? After this week, Fall semester will be over and I’ll have more time for my online  interests. I’m planning a total revamp of my blog…I’m just not sure what I want to do with it yet. My 101 in 1001 list has been abandoned for several months now, so I’m contemplating scratching it and starting fresh. I am still indecisive on whether or not I should get the .nu I’ve been wanting or just stay here at SouthernGirlRamblings.com. This domain just doesn’t seem personal enough to me…though it is catchy. Hmm…what to do?

With returning to blogging, I also plan to check my feed reader every now and again. I’ve been overlooking it the past month, so I am very behind on all my dailies. I currently have 55 updates, and that’s which utilizing the “Mark all as read” button about once a week. I promise to jump back into the blogging realm this week though, which will include commenting!!
