46 Degrees

 - by Kecia

Everyone’s been blogging about the weather lately, especially about how it’s gotten cold enough to turn on the heat. It’s hasn’t been quite that cold here yet, with the exception of today. The wind chill was ridiculous today, and it’s currently 46 degrees outside. For Georgia, that’s freakin’ cold! I’m ready for the cooler weather though, as it means the holidays are coming up and there will be a very slim possibility of snow. That’s really the only advantages of autumn and winter for me. I prefer Spring and Summer, when the weather is warm, but not hot. The 70’s is a good range for me.

I have about 25 blogs listed on my feed reader, about 8 of which update on a regular basis. I’m looking for more blogs to follow, hopefully some teacher blogs, as that’s my career choice. I prefer personal blogs that are well written, and go beyond the “Today I did this, then this, then that…” I’m trying to shy away from that myself, though occasional posts about your day is not something I frown upon. I like to do it only when I had an eventful or interesting day, and on the other days, I try to give my readers something worthwhile to read. Okay, let’s be honest, here lately, if I don’t have anything to say regarding my day, I just don’t update…BUT in preparation of blogging every day in November for NaBloPoMo, I’m coming up with a good list of topics to include. So, anyway, back to the main topic, if you have any good blogs you enjoy reading and would like to suggest them to me, I’m all ears!

Today was MUCH Better!

 - by Kecia

Today was a MUCH better day than yesterday. I was off from work at the day care, but as I said yesterday, I was supposed to go observe a 2nd grade classroom. Well, that didn’t happen. My sleep has been thrown completely off from the time change, and I played catch up last night. We didn’t get up until almost 10am this morning…I say we because James decided to take the day off to spend time with me since I stayed home all day.

The day was pretty once again…another 80 degree day. I am scared to get used to the beautiful weather for fear that it will be 40 degrees again before we know it! We played outside this afternoon, running Puppy to death. He really likes us going outside to play with him though, no matter how much he pants :) James and I also went to check out the recreation dept’s free gym. It’s just a small room with about 9 machines…nothing spectacular. I can’t complain since I don’t have to pay a membership, but it wasn’t fun to stand around in a scorching room cause there were more people in there than there were machines. I think tomorrow we are going to enjoy the weather again by taking a walk with Charmin.

Today was the first day of the NameCheap trivia contest they are holding on Twitter. If you follow me, you’ve probably seen all my strange @replies…I am really trying to win a Dell mini-laptop! If not, a few free domains would be nice too, as I have a couple expiring soon. I am 12 for 12 on the questions asked so far. They ask a question every hour on the hour, but I unfortunately have to sleep sometime. The 2 highest scorers plus 1 random person will win a mini-laptop when the contest is over on the 24th.

Ugh…It’s Definitely a Monday

 - by Kecia

I so almost forgot to blog tonight. Yes, that’s how bad this day as been. Allow me to rant:

Today was my first day being alone in the 3 year old classroom. I have been a little worried about this day, though I didn’t think it would come quite so soon. It was for only 4 hours this afternoon, but I had 13 kids today. State law says you can have 15 3 year olds for 1 adult, so I was almost to the limit. The children are realizing quite nicely that I am a new teacher, and are proceeding to run all over me. I am sure it will get better once they realize that I am a teacher, and that they have to treat me with the same respect as they do the other adults.

As if my work day wasn’t bad enough, I came home to a smoldering house at 6:30pm. We still had the thermostat set to heat, and it was 80 degrees inside…the same temp as outside! I felt like I had no relief from the weather. Especially after standing in it for over an hour while the children played on the outdoor play area.

On top of all of this, Mother Nature decided I had gone cramp-free long enough, and decided to visit me first thing this morning. All in all, I am sure this made my day even worse, as I felt like total crap most of the day. But, there is a bright side to this…it will help us get back on track for another pregnancy!

Oh, and my “baby” brother turned 15 today. Not only does that make me feel old, that also scares me. He’s going to get his learner’s permit tomorrow…So he’ll be on the road soon! :surprise:

I normally don’t rant (a.k.a. whine) on my blog like this, but it’s my site, so I feel like I am entitled! I am off tomorrow, but I am supposed to go to a local elementary school and complete some observation hours for my Education class. I am considering putting that to Thursday, so that I can completely enjoy my off day…The only one I’ll get this “wonderful” Spring Break!
