If you plan to give gifts to your loved ones this Valentine’s Day, have you considered potted bulbs? These are a step beyond the typical flowers yet they provide a lasting gift that your recipient is sure to enjoy for several days. They can even be replanted the following year for even more enjoyment.
Even if they haven’t bloomed yet, potted bulbs can be given in a way that is pleasing to the eye. They will eventually bloom and become even more beautiful…but until then, they can be enjoyed if presented in the right way.
If you plan to give them for Valentine’s Day, you could add a hint of festivity to the gift. Adding conversation hearts to the vase, for example, is a cute idea and allows the recipient to use their gift as a centerpiece at the dining room table. Alternative ideas to the heart candy include red and pink jelly beans or rocks like you might find in an aquarium.

The color added to the bottom of the vase will only heighten the shades of the potted bulbs, especially once they have bloomed. Another idea for the presentation is to place the bulbs in a gift bag filled with tissue. This is a little different from the normal “flowers in a vase” gift. It gives the recipient freedom to repot the bulbs in a pot that will match their home’s decor.
Potted bulbs are easy to find for purchase, so you don’t have to search. You may be able to find them at your local grocery store. If not, garden centers and floral shops are sure to have them in stock. Rather than grabbing an over-priced bouquet of roses that typically don’t last longer than a week or two, think about giving potted bulbs which will last much longer.

Those are absolutely beautiful. I am not normally a flower person, but I would love this because I could plant them in my garden for next year.
How gorgeous is that idea? Love it! I love planting bulbs each year. And the bulb plants I already have are so great at coming back year after year.
This is a great idea! I love natural gifts like this and they would be so pretty when they bloom.
