What I Miss About Pregnancy…

In the past, I have blogged about how we were happy with our family of 3. James and I had agreed that one child was enough for both of us. That was about 9 months ago – and I think things are changing.

My mind maybe changing, anyways. Now that the kiddo is 2 years old and is becoming more and more independent by the day, there are things that I miss. Though I never thought I’d say it, I even miss being pregnant! Not everything of course, but there are a few things….

1. I miss the ultrasounds. Getting to see a little life growing inside you is beyond amazing. Having to be patient is difficult, but ultrasounds make it easier.

2. I miss feeling those little kicks. Not necessarily the “jab to the ribs” kicks, but the sweet reminders that you are growing another human. That you are about to become a mom – for the first time or again.

3. I miss the comments. At the time, I wasn’t fond of the belly touching/rubbing, but now I miss the comments made from family, friends, or even complete strangers. A pregnant belly is always a conversation starter.

4. I miss not caring about what I ate. Okay, I actually cared a little bit in my first pregnancy. I didn’t want to be the one who gained 70+ lbs because I knew it’d be so hard to take it back off. The 25 pounds I did gain just NOW made their way out the door! However, I did sometimes say “Oh well, I’m eating for two!” when it came to pie…especially pecan pie. :)

For the mommies and daddies out there, what do you miss about pregnancy???

I completely understand. After 10 years of trying, we finally had our little girl. She is 18 months old & I already miss the baby stage. I can’t say I miss the pregnancy stage, but that could be because I spent a lot of it worrying about a miscarriage, since other pregnancies never ended well.

I had baby fever forever saying I missed being pregnant and everything. Now that I’m in month 7 I am starting to get worn down, uncomfortable, and downright frustrated at having this huge belly to tote around. I gained 73 pounds with my first and I’m happy to only be at 30 pounds at 30 weeks along. The second time around is a little easier, but I still feel like I was so wrong to miss being pregnant. Though I’m sure there will come a time in the next few years when I might think I’ll want to do it all over again. :)

I miss my cute baby belly. That’s about it. I thought I liked being pregnant. That was until the last one. I had a kidney stone and had to stay in the hospital for an entire week and get a procedure done. I was in so much pain. He laid really low in my belly the entire time and it so so painful and uncomfortable. With my last pregnancy he sat so low that he put pressure on a vein and it traveled all the way down to my ankle. It still doesn’t look right. That was the bad pregnancy.

About being preggy the first time. I missed that. I carried her high and was never uncomfortable at all. I guess each pregnancy is different. I would love to have more but we just can’t. I totally understand what you mean about wanting more.

[...] I am eight weeks into my journey today, and in the next few weeks, I’m going to begin a pregnancy journal which will be posted each Thursday (when my new week starts). Right now, it’s been a fairly uneventful ride aside from the morning all-day sickness that comes and goes! Definitely a part of pregnancy that I do not miss! [...]
