When you get pregnant, you will find that there is a TON of stuff to learn. You need to know how to take care of yourself while carrying the growing baby as well as how to take care of him/her once he/she is born. Within a few weeks of getting a positive pregnancy test, I had “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” in my hands.
This book was really a lifesaver for me while trying to learn as much as I could about pregnancy and childbirth. From the book, I learned what each month would be like, what symptoms to expect, etc. I also learned how to eat properly when carrying a child and even how to exercise.
Just before I gave birth, I picked up the second book in the “What to Expect” series, “What to Expect in the First Year”. This was more about what to do once the baby was here. It discusses milestones, development, baby care, and so much more. This book came in handy so many times, and I tried to read as much as I could before I actually went into labor. Even after the kiddo was here, it was a great reference book!
While I never read the third book, “What to Expect the Second Year”, I suspect it is packed full of information just like the first two were. A good time to begin reading this is a few months before your child’s first birthday. It discusses even more milestones, dilemmas, and potential issues you may face once your child becomes a toddler!
